Review: Dannon Light & Fit Greek Crunch Caramel Fudge Pretzel Greek Yogurt

I've already opined on the seeming lack of creativity from major manufacturers before in rolling out new products, so I'll spare you (and myself) from regurgitating that take again.  Instead, I'll just dive into another Dannon review of one of their new products as I take a look at a spin on their normal Light & Fit line of Greek yogurts with this single serving cup of Dannon Light & Fit Greek Crunch Caramel Fudge Pretzel Greek Yogurt that I was able to pick up at Kroger for $1.29.  The cups, with mix-ins, packs in 5.0 ounces of yogurt/pretzel mix and that mix racks up 130 calories and eleven grams of protein.  The yogurt is fat free, but mixing in the fudge covered pretzels adds just a tiny bit of fat to the entire package.

Review: Chobani flip Salted Caramel Crunch Greek Yogurt

It must be new car season for the yogurt industry.  When I say new car season, I mean that it seems like many of the manufacturers are rolling out their new models (like cars) and infiltrating the stores with their new flavors.  Today's newest addition to the Chobani review catalog is one of those so-called new cars with this Chobani flip Salted Caramel Crunch Greek Yogurt that I picked up at Meijer for $1.29.  It's 5.3 ounces and comes in at 190 calories with twelve grams of protein.  As is par for the course with Chobani, it's also all natural.  It's also 1.5% milkfat if you care about that kind of thing at all.

Review (#1000!): Skinnygirl Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bar

Today is a big day for the blog and if you didn't notice from the title of this post, this is review number one thousand in this blog's history, so if you'll indulge me for a few moments, I'm going to spend a little time dwelling on the milestone before I get into today's actual review.

Honestly, I can't believe I've written that many reviews and I've done it in a little over three years time.  That's not epic, non-stop production like some blogs out there, but it's still a lot for one guy to take on (excuse me while I break my arm patting myself on the back) AND EAT.  When I started this blog, I figured it would be something that I'd do sporadically for a few months and then move on with my life.  Over three years, one thousand reviews, over 2.5 million page views and over 500,000 unique visitors later, I'm still here kickin' it.  This blog has never been a super successful or overly read blog as those statistics show, but it's chugged along just enough to keep me going for all these years and reviews.

I'd be remiss if I didn't thank everyone that has gotten me this far because if it weren't for the fans whose visits generate revenue via the obnoxious display advertising that clogs and slows down the site, I would have given up this blog a long, long time ago.  I realize that I've mailed some reviews in, not really given my best effort at times and I've even accidentally reviewed some products twice without even knowing it, so there have been times where it perhaps hasn't been worth visiting.  Regardless, that just shows how awesome all of you are and I do want to say THANK YOU (again) for all your visits and support throughout the years.

Since this is the milestone one thousand, I figured I would call my masculinity into question (this is called Crazy Food DUDE) and review a product that is specifically targeted toward women as I've done many times before with LUNA bars.  Still, despite the fact that I'm not female, I think it's okay for me to eat this...well, I'm going to declare that it's okay for me to try out this Skinnygirl Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bar that I picked up at Marsh for $2.49.  Skinnygirl is kind of famous and maybe it's going to her head as she's put two mildly annoying taglines on the wrapper of this bar.  First, this is referred to as a "Tasty Nutrition Bar" on the front of the wrapper.  Should the judgment of whether something is tasty or not be at the discretion of the person eating it?  Also, on the back/side of the wrapper, there was another tagline that said "Treat Yourself Healthy."  Again, if I don't eat this bar, am I not treating myself healthy?  And yet another thing, is a bar that is part of a company that was founded based on Skinnygirl alcoholic cocktails really able to decide what is treating my body healthy or not?  And another thing...the founder of said company is a Real Housewife of New York (Bethenny Frankel), so that doesn't exactly make her a model citizen.  Okay, I'm complaining in a ridiculously long diatribe about things that don't matter again, which is something I've done many times over the course of one thousand reviews, so I guess it's nothing new.

Anyway, this bar is 1.4 ounces and has 160 calories and six grams of protein.  It's also gluten free (isn't seemingly everything now?) and also kosher, if you are into knowing that kind of information.

Review: CLIF Mojo Sweet and Salty Honey Roasted Peanut Trail Mix Bar

I was strolling through Marsh recently and made my usual trip through the nutrition bar aisle looking for new products to review.  As I was perusing what was on the shelf, I happened upon a bar that I thought I had to have reviewed before, but after looking at the CLIF review archives, I found that I hadn't yet reviewed this CLIF Mojo Sweet and Salty Honey Roasted Peanut Trail Mix Bar for some reason.  I'm not quite sure why either as I'm guessing it's not a new product, although the lack of presence on the CLIF website could leave me to believe otherwise.  I honestly don't know if it's new, a boring recipe or just something that I had blatantly missed, but after ascertaining that it was a "new" review subject for me, I quickly grabbed this bar up for $1.25.  The bar itself is 1.6 ounces, 200 calories and has nine grams of protein.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Ice Cream

So, I like candy bars, I like pies and I like ice cream.  When I see something that combines all of those, it would seem like it would be the best of both worlds and something that I would absolutely pick up, right?  Well, on the other hand, I don't like my waist line expanding and as I mentioned in my last Ben & Jerry's review, I've been trying to stay away from their products recently in order to maintain a semi-healthy diet.  But, as I also mentioned in that review, every now and then I just can't resist when I see a sale combined with a coupon and that's what Kroger did to me and that led me to pick up this pint of limited batch Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Ice Cream on sale for $3.99 (plus a $1.00 off coupon).  This pint is the standard four half-cup servings and comes in a decidedly unhealthy 300 calories per serving.

Review: Dr. Black's Brain Bar Dark Chocolatey Nut Bar

After my last Dr. Black's review, the people from Dr. Black's were kind enough to reach out to me to thank me for the review and also to apologize for the fact that my free sample melted before it arrived (totally unnecessary apology, but very much appreciated).  Because of that, they wanted to see if I would be interested in samples of their other flavor bar and that leads to today's review of this Dr. Black's Brain Bar Dark Chocolatey Nut Bar.  This one is 0.99 ounces and clocks in with 110 calories and four grams of protein.

Review: NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt Bar

I've touched on NuGo bars before in reviews on this blog, but my local Krogers have stocked their shelves with basically the same flavors for quite some time, so I haven't had the opportunity to add to that review archive.  On a recent trip through the store, I noticed that Kroger added a new flavor to their arsenal, so I was able to pick up this NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt Bar for $1.79.  The bar itself is 200 calories with ten grams of protein.  It's also gluten free, vegan and pareve (a new one for me; click on this link to learn more), so it's a perfectly viable alternative for all the health nuts (I don't mean that in a derogatory sense) out there.

Review: Quaker Big Chewy Sweet & Salty Chocolate & Salted Caramel Granola Bars

Hey, hey!!  Another new Quaker Chewy product!  I hadn't reviewed one of these for a long, long time, so I'm glad Chewy bars can make it back to the blog, albeit in the Big Chewy form.  I picked up a box of six of these Quaker Big Chewy Sweet & Salty Chocolate & Salted Caramel Granola Bars on sale at Meijer for $2.00 and each bar in the box weighs in at 1.41 ounces (it's 60% bigger!) with a robust 170 calories.  I guess it is a BIG Chewy bar after all, so that calorie count shouldn't surprise me.

Review: Kellogg's Special K Moments Caramel Pretzel Bliss Indulgent Snack Bites

I've mentioned it many times before, but I'll mention it again...I love the mega conglomerate food producing machine.  Often, they just release different flavors of their same products.  Occasionally, they'll release an entirely new product line and that's what Kellogg's did today as I tack up a new product category to their review catalog with this review of the new Kellogg's Special K Moments Caramel Pretzel Bliss Indulgent Snack Bites that I was able to pick up on sale for $2.50 at Meijer.  Each box contains eight 0.56 ounces bites and each bite is an affordable 70 calories.

Review: Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Chocolate Pretzel Nut Granola Bars

I was trolling through my local Kroger and it seems as if mega-conglomerate General Mills has sneakily released another new bar variety through it's Nature Valley granola bar line with this Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Chocolate Pretzel Nut Granola Bars product.  Like I said, I picked a box of six of these at Kroger and got them on sale for $2.99.  Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces and has 150 calories and a minimal two grams of protein.

Review: Zone Perfect Kidz Caramel Crunch Bar

These Zone Perfect Kidz bars are a new entrant to my local grocery store's shelves.  I've already taken a look at one of these in a prior review and found it to be especially addicting.  Because of that, I was kind of excited to dive into today's review of this Zone Perfect Kidz Caramel Crunch Bar that I picked up on sale at Kroger for $1.00.  The bar itself is 1.23 ounces and has 140 calories with five grams of protein.  It's for kids obviously, so it's slightly diminutive, but that is just fine in the grand scheme of things.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Grand Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream

Unless I'm doing a specific week dedicated to a particular product manufacturer or theme, I usually like to spread out the reviews.  But, since yesterday's Edy's review and today's review are of limited edition summer-related products and summer traditionally is considered over after the upcoming Labor Day weekend, I've got to abandon my typical tactics and post a review of today's Edy's (Dreyer's) Grand Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream before it disappears off the shelves.  Like yesterday's review, I got this one on sale at Kroger for $2.99 and each container contains the classic twelve half-cup servings.  Each of those servings scores out at 150 calories, so for a full-powered ice cream, albeit one made with skim milk, that's not so bad.  As with yesterday's baseball themed review, Edy's has decided to tie what is seemingly a basic flavor combination to summer by calling this "Sunny."  I'm still not sure how that works, but I'll play along.

Review: Pure Fitness Nutrition Krave Peanut Butter Jelly Crunch Protein Bar

Pure Fitness is a manufacturer that reached out to me as a way to market their new line of protein bars.  With that outreach, they sent me a couple of bars to try out and today's review is the first of those two.  This Pure Fitness Nutrition Krave Peanut Butter Jelly Crunch Protein Bar is modeled after a childhood favorite food of mine, so it had to be the first of the two bars that I tried out because I was so intrigued by how they would transform one of my favorites into a protein bar, although the sandwiches of my childhood mostly used grape jelly, but this one is instead modeled after strawberry jelly.  Before I dive into the review, this bar's essentials are it is 2.5 ounces, has 242 calories with twenty grams of protein and is also all natural.

Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Sweet & Salty Peanut Pretzel Chewy Granola Bars

As I've mentioned before, Cascadian Farm's marketing to me by sending me free products for reviews worked.  I've bought and reviewed several of their products on my own based on those positive reviews and another sale at my local Kroger led me to pick up a box of five of these Cascadian Farm Organic Sweet & Salty Peanut Pretzel Chewy Granola Bars for $2.49.  Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces and has 160 calories with three grams of protein.  Obviously, based on the name, they are trying to play up what can sometimes be an overplayed flavor combination with the sweet and salty mix, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns because I'm always reticent of products that make that claim.

Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Trail Mix Vanilla Almond Cherry Bars

Before it's all said and done, I might end up buying a part of Cascadian Farms.  I mean, the first sent me free products and then I started buying their products at the store on my own, so the next logical step would be to buy a part of the company, right?  Okay, that might be a bit much. I think I'll just stick to reviews and that leads me to this review of the Cascadian Farm Organic Trail Mix Vanilla Almond Cherry Bars that I picked up on sale at Kroger in a box of five bars for $2.99.  Each bar is 1.2 ounces, has 130 calories and also a small two grams of protein.

Review: Skinny Cow Salted Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream Bars

I'm sure most of you have figured it out already, but I've decided that this is Skinny Cow review week.  I've reviewed three products already this week and now it's time for the fourth product that I picked up in the crazy Skinny Cow sale at my local Marsh for $3.99.  This time, I'm taking a look at another one of their ice cream candy bar lines with this review of the Skinny Cow Salted Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream Bars.  Each box contains five 2.1 fluid ounce bars and each bar is 160 calories and scores a four on the Weight Watchers PointsPlus scale.

Review: Klondike Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream Bars

One of the first reviews that I did around the birth of this blog was a review on a No Sugar Added Klondike bar.  It was linked by The Impulsive Buy and still remains one of my most trafficked posts of all time.  For whatever reason, I've never done a follow-up Klondike review despite the fact that I see and am interested in Klondike products all the time.  On a recent store visit to Meijer, I finally took the plunge during one of their sales and picked up a box of six of these Klondike Caramel Pretzel Ice Cream Bars on sale for $2.50.  Each bar in the box is 3.0 grams and has a robust (for its size) 270 calories.  That may seem like a lot and it sort of is, but it is comparable to an average serving of most Ben & Jerry's ice cream products.  When you look at it that way, it doesn't seem as bad.  Well, that's at least the logic I'm using to justify eating this to myself.  When I do a bit more reading on the website, I come to find out that the ice cream in this is light ice cream and it only has 130 calories, which isn't horrible at all.  As always, it's the toppings/add-ins that kill you with this to the tune of 140 calories.  Another interesting thing I found while reading the website is that you can make a shake out of these and there's a recipe on how to do it.  Interesting and being that this is a six-pack, that is definitely something to consider.

Review: CLIF Mojo Peanut Butter Pretzel Sweet & Salty Trail Mix Bar

I was just looking through the CLIF bar review archives here on the blog and just say that I haven't reviewed a CLIF Mojo bar since July 2012.  It's not like I've been avoiding them, but I just haven't seen any different flavors available in my stores until recently when I saw two different flavors available and snatched them up for some long absent Mojo reviews.  First up is this CLIF Mojo Peanut Butter Pretzel Sweet & Salty Trail Mix Bar that I picked up at Kroger on sale for $1.00.  It weighs 1.6 ounces, has 190 calories and nine grams of protein.  It's also 70% organic, so all you tree huggers out there can feel warm and fuzzy about this one.

Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Caramel & Pretzel Bar

Caramel and chocolate...yum.  Caramel, chocolate and pretzels?  Even more yum, so when I saw boxes of Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Caramel & Pretzel Bars at Kroger being advertised as a new flavor, I knew I had to grab a box off the shelf to add to my growing collection of Fiber One reviews.  The fact that they were on sale for $2.49 for the box certainly helped as well, because I'm a price shopper more often than not and I'm not sure I would have bought these if they were at the regular price, whatever that was.  Each bar is 0.82 ounces and is obviously 90 calories.  It also contains 20% of your daily fiber, so it'll help you out down there too.

Review: Kellogg's Special K Chocolatey Pretzel Cereal Bar

As this week has shown (and will continue to show), it seems like Kellogg's and also Special K are bringing the heat recently with all sorts of new products.  Seemingly on every trip I make to the store recently, there is at least a new Kellogg's products, some of which I've touched on here.  They are also loading up the Sunday paper with coupons in my area, so armed with one of those coupons on a recent trip, I decided to pick up a box of these Kellogg's Special K Chocolatey Pretzel Cereal Bars on sale with my coupon for $2.49.  The box has six bars and each bar comes in at 0.77 ounces with 90 calories and a laughable one gram of protein.  It is a cereal (breakfast) bar after all, so the lack of protein should not be surprising.
