Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Mint Cookies 'N Cream Frozen Custard
I recently when to a Chicago Cubs game in JUNE where it was fifty degrees in the middle of the day. Needless to say, I was not happy. So, anytime I find a killer sale that helps remind me of one of summer's favorite treats, I'm pretty inclined to buy it since it'll remind me of the summer that I HOPE will actually happen. With that, I saw another Edy's custard product (they're new) on sale at Kroger for $2.49. I had a $1.00 off coupon, so this was basically free! Anyway, the container of this Edy's (Dreyer's) Mint Cookies 'N Cream Frozen Custard was one quart (32 ounces) and each quart had eight half-cup size servings that clocked in at 210 calories per serving.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Peanut Butter Pie Frozen Custard
I'm not going to kid myself anymore. I am on a fully crazed dessert binge. Cookies, ice cream, cake, custard (in today's case), whatever. I can't get enough of my sweets and I'm eating a ton of them. Some of that has been reflected on the blog. BUT, in this case, it's probably okay. I've lost a bunch of weight (not be design) and I need to put a few pounds back on as I've mentioned before, so this course of action certainly helps me do that, even though they aren't healthy pounds since they are backed in sugar and junk. Oh well. Anyway, today's review adds to my Edy's (Dreyer's in the west) review collection as I was able to grab a 32 ounce container of this new Edy's (Dreyer's) Peanut Butter Pie Custard at my local Kroger on sale for $2.99. Each container has eight half-cup servings and each serving is 250 calories.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Outshine Peach Fruit Bars
I've been trying to start hitting on a lot of these fruit bars in the frozen section of my local stores recently and that has caused me to take a look at several of these Edy's (Dreyer's) Outshine bars in reviews already. Since there is a myriad of flavors, it'll take me a while to plow through them at all, but a recent sale at Kroger led me to pick up a box of six of these Edy's Outshine Peach Fruit Bars on sale for $3.00. Each bar in the box is 2.7 fluid ounces and has 90 calories. It's also fat free, so that's a nice little added bonus to eating these.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Outshine Strawberry Fruit Bars
If you read the blog regularly, one of the quirky (or perhaps intelligent) things that I do is buy things in bulk and buy multiple versions of the same product in the same shopping trip. I rarely spread things out through multiple purchases. I guess it's just the bargain hunter in me (which might make the practice intelligent). Anyway, in my last Edy's review, I took a look at a product that I picked up in the same binge run as when I picked up this box of six Edy's Outshine Strawberry Fruit Bars. Each 2.7 fluid ounce bar in this box comes in at a calorie-friendly (and fat free) 70 calories.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Outshine Creamy Coconut Fruit Bars
I've spent several reviews on Fruttare bars here on this site, but today is really the first review of a Fruttare competitor as I add another entry to my Edy's review catalog by taking a look at a product out of their Outshine line of bars. I was able to pick up this box of six Edy's Outshine Creamy Coconut Fruit Bars at Marsh on sale for $3.79 (fortunately I had a $1 off coupon to make that a bit cheaper) and each bar in the box comes in at 2.7 fluid ounces and has 120 calories of frozen, creamy goodness (maybe).

Review: Fruttare Black Cherry Ice Bars
I mentioned in my last Fruttare review that their media agency was kind enough to send me some free coupons to try out some of their new products. Those coupons lead me to today's review as I'm going to take a look at this box of six Fruttare Black Cherry Ice Bars, which is also among their two new product offerings. Each bar in this box is 2.4 fluid ounces and is a very economical 60 calories, so it's a "healthy" dessert treat if that is what you are looking for.

Review: Fruttare Mixed Berry and Milk Frozen Fruit & Milk Dessert Bars
When Fruttare bars first came out in my area, I hammered them with a large series of reviews, but have mainly stayed away for quite a while. A little while back, a member of Fruttare's publicity team contacted me and asked if I'd like to try out some of their new flavors. Being the glutton for food and free stuff that I am, I happily accepted the offer and they sent me out two vouchers for free products. One of those vouchers got me today's product with this box of Fruttare Strawberry and Milk + Mixed Berry and Milk Frozen Fruit & Milk Dessert Bars. As you can quite easily see, there are two flavors in this box but since the Mixed Berry-flavored bars are the new ones, I'll primarily focus on those for the purposes of this review. Each of those bars is 2.7 fluid ounces and 110 calories.

Review: Atkins Sesame Chicken Stir-Fry Frozen Meal
I don't often eat individual pre-packaged frozen entrees, but I usually keep a couple in my freezer just in case the situation ever arises where I'm not particularly hungry and/or I've gotten home late and just don't want to deal with throwing anything together. Today's review was caused by one of those situations and is going to allow me to add to my Atkins review catalog when I take a look at this Atkins Sesame Chicken Stir-Fry Frozen Meal that was able to pick up on sale AND with a $1.00 off coupon for $2.99, so it's obviously not on the low cost end of the retail spectrum. This 9.0 ounce frozen entree has 360 calories and a hearty 26 grams of protein.

Review: Atkins Italian-Style Pasta Bake
I've touched on several Atkins products on the blog before and that includes nutrition bars, drinks and also frozen foods. Today, I'll be dabbling once again in frozen food territory as I was able to pick up this Atkins Italian-Style Pasta Bake at Kroger for $3.99 (I had a coupon to knock that price down to $2.99 thankfully). This one came in at a solid 9.0 ounces and had 360 calories with a pounding 33 grams of protein.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Froyo Low-Fat Half Baked Frozen Yogurt
I think it has been a bit since I've done a Ben & Jerry's review and I guess I can think of today's review as kind of a re-review, except with a slightly different spin. I previously reviewed the full ice cream version of this flavor, but today I'm looking at the low-fat version in this review of a pint of Ben & Jerry's Froyo Low-Fat Half Baked Frozen Yogurt that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $3.00. Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving clocks in at a semi-economical (for a dessert) 200 calorie load.

Review: Thrive Homemade Vanilla Frozen Nutrition
I mentioned in my previous Thrive review how it pained me how they referred to this as frozen nutrition on the packaging, but every single other reference to this on the web includes this being referred to as ice cream. After trying to be cute and calling it frozen nutrition last time, I'll just go ahead and call this ice cream for the purposes of this review, except when I list out the name of this one which is Thrive Homemade Vanilla Frozen Nutrition. I picked this one up for $3.99 (I had a coupon to tack onto that as well) and each two pack contains two six ounce cups of ice cream. Each cup is 250 calories and is loaded with all sorts of nutritional benefits, or that's at least what the packaging tells me.

Review: Fruttare Lime Ice Bars
I haven't quite completely figured out why, but I'm in love with trying out these new Fruttare bars. Perhaps its because all my coupon apps and sites keep releasing coupons or perhaps its because I've had so much success with the flavors that I've already tried. Whatever it is, I have no clue but I am led to yet another review with today's look a these Fruttare Lime Ice Bars. I picked these up on sale at Kroger for $2.99 (I also had a Kroger app coupon...Boo-ya!). Each box contains six 2.0 fluid ounce bars and each bar is a minimal 70 calories. I'm sure that 2.0 fluid ounces means nothing when just looking at the raw number, but for a size comparison, think of a deck of cards. I realize this bar is fruit juice, but seventy calories for a dessert treat isn't half bad.

News: National Ice Cream Month / Ben & Jerry's Week!
For those of you that don't know, July is National Ice Cream Month. Basically, for gluttons like myself and some of my fellow ice cream related blog brethren, this is the best time of the year. In celebration of that, I'm going to spend the next week posting a new daily review of a product from one of the most known ice cream purveyors in the United States as I hit on a different Ben & Jerry's flavor every day. One caveat though is that not every single review will be of one of their ice cream products. They've been churning out some frozen Greek yogurt products recently, some of which I've already looked at, so I'll be mixing in a couple of those review in as well.
Also, expect to see a lot of different ice cream/dessert related reviews this month as I try to celebrate this great month in style. Hope you enjoy!

Review: Thrive Chocolate Fudge Frozen Nutrition
I had never heard of Thrive in my life until one day when I was perusing the digital coupons app of Meijer. I saw a digital coupon for their products, so I figured I'd "clip" the coupon and save it for my next trip to the store. On that next trip, I finally found it in the ice cream aisle, which makes the product name of Thrive Chocolate Fudge Frozen Nutrition all that much more amusing to me. Everyone knows this is ice cream (even their website), but why is it called frozen nutrition on the product packaging? Odd. Anyway, a two pack of these six ounce single serve cups ran the regular price of $3.99, but with my digital coupon, I got this for $2.99. Each cup is 250 calories and since this is frozen nutrition, I'll go ahead and list that it has nine grams of protein as well. The packaging lists this as comparable to ENSURE and since ENSURE is just basically nutrition drinks, I guess the fact that this labeled as frozen nutrition begins to make sense.

Review: Fruttare Peach and Milk Frozen Fruit & Milk Dessert Bars
I can't say enough positive things about my previous Fruttare experiences. Each time, I expected to go in and be bored by what I was eating and each time, I was left far from bored after I tried each bar out. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed each flavor and product line, so armed with another free product voucher, I grabbed this box of Fruttare Peach and Milk Frozen Fruit & Milk Dessert Bars off the shelf at my local Meijer and dove right in with high expectations. Each box of these bars contains four separate bars and typically runs in the $4.00 range in my area. Each bar is 2.7 fluid ounces and is 110 calories, so it's a fairly economical treat.

Review: Fruttare Strawberry Ice Bars
So, I'm two-for-two (including this one) on getting Fruttare products for free and with another review coming in the future, I'll be a perfect three-for-three. This review of the Fruttare Strawberry Ice Bars comes compliments of the public relations agency that is putting out the word for these new bars. Ordinarily, this would cost anywhere in the $4.00 range for a box of six bars, but since I'm a lucky guy, I didn't get dinged with that. Each bar in the box is two fluid ounces and is a very, very economical 60 calories.

Review: Fruttare Coconut and Milk Frozen Fruit & Milk Dessert Bars
Apparently Fruttare bars are another import that we've been deprived of (like Magnum ice cream bars were at one time). Recently though, Unilever (also the importer of Magnum bars) has decided that Fruttare bars should jump from their home country of Brazil and be released to the masses of the United States (they've been available in other parts of the world for quite some time) and spurred on by a free product coupon via my Kroger Plus savings card, I picked up this four pack of Fruttare Coconut and Milk Frozen Dessert Bars on a recent trip to the store. Each bar is 2.7 fluid ounces and 140 calories, so it's a relatively sizable and semi-healthy treat.

Review: Breyers Blasts! Birthday Blast Frozen Dairy Dessert
In general, I like the Breyers Blasts! line of products quite a bit and have had lots of success with them. The Blasts! line is right up my alley as in most cases, I choose add-ins over overall flavor of the ice cream (or in this case, frozen dairy dessert). Since Blasts! are all about add-ins, that makes them a big winner. Seeing a new flavor in the freezer case at my local Kroger, along with a Breyers sale, I decided to pick up this 1.5 quart container of Breyers Blasts! Birthday Blast Frozen Dairy Dessert on sale for $2.99. It's a fairly economical 130 calories per serving and it's twelve half-cup servings per container.

Review: Gorton's Cajun Blackened Grilled Fillets
This is not my first time reviewing Gorton's grilled products and in fact, I've even given Buy It ratings before, so when I saw this Cajun Blackened Grilled Fillets on sale at Meijer for $3.99 (I also had a $1.00 off coupon), I was more than willing to pick it up and give another one of their flavors a try. I like the spice of Cajun flavoring and I'm trying to find a way to like fish more (I realize this is frozen, so sue me), so this one was right up my alley. This box contains two fillets weighing in at 3.8 ounces per fillet and each fillet contains 90 calories and packs a robust sixteen grams of protein. Nice. What I found interesting though was that the front packaging of the box did not tell you what kind of fish this was. If you look at the back, you can see that it is Alaskan Pollock, but it just seems strange to me that the customer facing packaging is basically just labeling this as "fish" and that's it.

Review: Gorton's Frozen Classic Grilled Salmon
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the world's biggest fan of seafood. For the most part, I've stayed away from it my entire life because I don't like the "fishy" taste and therefore am no expert when it comes to different kinds of seafood. That said, after watching countless hours of Food Network, I decided I would start to explore the world of seafood (albeit, store bought and frozen) and paired with a coupon that I got at my gym, that led me to Gorton's frozen line of grilled products and more specifically, this Classic Grilled Salmon. I know this is not the real thing and the quality would show that, but the mission of this blog is to review pre-packaged foods, so that is the reason I picked this up at Meijer for $3.00 ($4.00 without coupon).
