Review: Good Greens Apple Crumb Soy Greek Yogurt Bar
It's been quite a while since I looked at a Good Greens product (over two years), but I had noticed recently that my local Marsh Supermarket had started carrying their bars. I hadn't made any purchases because I thought I had tried all the flavors, but upon further review recently, I noticed that there were a couple that I hadn't tested out yet and that leads to today's review of this Good Greens Apple Crumb Soy Greek Yogurt Bar. I was able to grab this one for $2.49 and it comes in at 1.76 ounces with 190 calories and ten grams of protein. It's also dubbed as a "Wellness Bar" on the wrapper and I think that's a first for me. As always with these Good Greens bars, it's powered by their Z52 Superfood Powder and I'll spare telling the long story of that that is again. You can check out the website or my prior reviews if interested. Anyway, the bar is also all natural, gluten free and vegan, so that's fun (or healthy) I suppose.

Review: Rise Crunchy Cranberry Apple Breakfast Bar
I covered in my last Rise breakfast bar review how these bars popped up on me at Meijer one day and I knew I had to grab them to try out, so I'll spare that again. I'll also spare you the story of how my mom used to say "rise and shine" all the time in the morning and it used to make me mad because all I wanted to do was sleep. Oh wait, I guess I just did re-hash both of those stories, so I didn't spare anything. Sweet writing skills. Anyway, I got this Rise Crunchy Cranberry Apple Breakfast Bar for $1.00 and it comes in at 1.4 ounces with 160 calories and three grams of protein. It's produced with a limited number of ingredients, is all natural and is also gluten free, so Rise is attempting to produce quite the healthy concoction here.

Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Dark Chocolate Almond Bars
Who doesn't need a little fiber in their life? Some people need it more than others and whether I need extra fiber is neither here nor there, but I do like to eat snack bars and that lead's me to another review of a Kellogg's product with this review of these Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Dark Chocolate Almond Bars that I picked up at Marsh in a box of five on sale for $2.99. Each bar is 1.2 ounces, has 130 calories and a minimal two grams of protein. While the protein is minimal, the fiber is not as this bar contains 35% of the typical 2,000 calorie diet's fiber. Nice, I guess.

Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Peanut Protein Chewy Bars
As the protein bar wars continue with seemingly everyone jumping in, I'm led to yet another review of one of Kellogg's attempts at joining the fray by extending their typical FiberPlus Antioxidants line to also include heavy protein. With that attempt, I picked up a box of five of these pretty basic sounding Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Peanut Protein Chewy Bars at Marsh on sale for $2.99 leading to another review. Each bar in the box is 1.41 ounces and has 170 calories, ten grams of protein and since it's a fiber bar as well, it also has seven grams of fiber.

Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Protein Mixed Nut Bar
It's like Kellogg's and General Mills (via Nature Valley) are having a competition to see who can put the most products on sale at my local grocery stores recently. It's been great for me, the consumer, as it leads to a lot of reviews, but I can't see how it can be great for those companies unless they are using it as a way to introduce new products and force them onto customers. If that is the case, they've forced this new product on to me as I picked up a box of five these Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Protein Mixed Nut Bars at a sale price of $2.49. Each bar is 1.41 ounces and is 170 calories with ten grams of protein and seven grams of fiber. I think this is the first time I've seen a bar that goes for both the protein AND the fiber market, so how can it go wrong? Actually, there are tons of ways that can go wrong, especially when it comes to flavor and that's why I'm here to test it out.

Review: NuGo Organic Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Bar
As I've come to find out writing reviews for this blog over time, dark chocolate can be kind of hit or miss. Sometimes it's really good and other times it's awful. It's been the same hit or miss proposition for me in previous NuGo reviews and being that I was armed with one last free product coupon that NuGo had so graciously sent me, I picked up this NuGo Organic Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Bar on a trip to Kroger to try out. It's 1.76 ounces, 190 calories and has ten grams of protein. The wrapper on this bar made a big production of how this was enrobed in "REAL" dark chocolate instead of a chocolate flavored vegetable oil, so I guess that's encouraging...or something.

Review: FRS Healthy Energy Wild Berry Energy Drink
I'd be foolish to think I've heard of everything, even though I sometimes act like I have heard of everything. So, when wandering through Kroger one day, I found something that I truly had never heard of with this FRS Healthy Energy Wild Berry Energy Drink. Curious to see what it was prior to taking a test, I visited their website and found out it is an energy drink preferred by athletes (supposedly). One of those athletes just happens to be overrated/untalented quarterback/runningback/POS Tim Tebow, who I despise by the way. I figure if Tebow endorses this product, it must really suck. It was still worth a try though, so here we are. Like I said, I grabbed this at Kroger and it has a regular price of $2.49 and it is twelve ounces and 90 calories. The active ingredient in this is Quercetin, which according to their website is a "powerful, all-natural antioxidant found in red fruits and vegetables." Alrighty then...I've never heard of it, but as my opening sentence said, I haven't heard of everything.

Review: KIND Plus Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew + Antioxidants Bar
When I made my initial decision to put an increased focus on doing reviews of KIND bars, I picked up a handful of these at Kroger on sale and I've finally made my way through that handful with this review of the KIND Plus Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew + Antioxidants Bar. Like I said, this one was picked up at Kroger on sale for $0.99 and it comes in at 1.4 ounces with 180 calories and four grams of protein. It's more of an antioxidants bar than a protein bar, so that would explain the low protein count. It's also gluten free and wheat free, so it's free of a lot of things. Hopefully flavor is not one of those.

Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Caramel Coconut Fudge Bar
I've been seeing a lot of coupons and sales for these Kellogg's FiberPlus bar recently and subsequently, I've been eating a lot of them and also completing reviews on them as well. With that, I'm led to review another one of these bars with this review of the Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Caramel Coconut Fudge Bar that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $2.50 with a coupon. Each box contains five bars and each bar comes in at 1.2 ounces with 130 calories and two grams of protein. It's also marketed as having 35% of your daily fiber intake, so I guess you know what that means.

Review: Bora Bora Paradise Walnut Pistachio Bar
I've done several of these Bora Bora reviews and the tropical/paradise motif of these bars amuses me for some reason. Sure it's got a lot of fruits and nuts, but so do forests, so I'm not quite sure why they are so insistent on drawing the comparison to "sex" up the bars (they are referred to as "Exotic Fruit and Nut Bars"). Anyway, I picked up this Bora Bora Paradise Walnut Pistachio Bar on sale at Meijer for $0.75 and it comes in at 1.4 ounces with a respectable 180 calories and four grams of protein. With that limited protein, it's purely an energy and/or snack bar. Oh yeah, by the way, it's an antioxidant bar too. Yippee!!

Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Nutty Delights Honey Roasted Almond Bar
Every time I see a product touting its fiber content, I can only think of one thing. Sorry, I have a dirty mind. I'll try to keep those thoughts to myself though throughout this review of another Kellogg's FiberPlus product with this review of the Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Nutty Delights Honey Roasted Almond Bar. I picked up a box of five of these at Meijer on sale at Meijer for $2.50. Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces and contains 150 calories, three grams of protein and most importantly, 25% of your daily fiber intake (based on a 2,000 calorie diet)! Wow, I'm sold already!

Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Chocolatey Peanut Butter Chewy Bar
I've already spent some time on some of Kellogg's other wide variety of snack bar offerings, but I'm now onto my first review of yet another one of their offerings with this bar from the FiberPlus Antioxidants line. It's got an overly cute and absolutely absurd name in Chocolatey Peanut Butter. I mean, really, why do they need the "y" at the end of chocolate. Is that supposed to "spice" it up and make it more attractive or is that say that the chocolate is not real and just a reasonable facsimile? Ugh, I hate it when marketers (it is my profession, so I can make broad accusations and assumptions with conviction) try to out-think themselves and come up with dumb things that just don't make any sense. In my mind, that's the case with this bar. Anyway, I got this one during "snack time" at the office and didn't pay for it, but I have seen it at Meijer for $3.99 for a box of six. Each bar comes it at a moderately sized 1.2 ounces and has 120 calories and three grams of protein. Since it's a fiber bar, it's got a lot of fiber and when you look at the packaging, this one proclaims it is 35% of your daily fiber intake. Holy crap (pun intended)! They also call this one a chewy bar, so it appears as if they may be trying to steal a bit of Quaker's thunder from their often reviewed Chewy bars. Lame.

Review: KIND Plus Cranberry Almond + Antioxidants Bar
I've had some success with KIND bar reviews on this blog. I've always found them to be extremely crunchy due to the tasty nut component, but sometimes I find the fruit component of the bar to be questionable. That said, I was interested to try out another one of their flavors, this time from their Plus line of bars called Cranberry Almond + Antioxidants. As usual, I got this through a KINDING Mission, so I didn't pay for it, but it does weigh 1.41 ounces, contain 190 calories and three grams of protein.

Review: Planters NUT-rition Antioxidant Bar
Hey, the first Planters review! This bar is part of their NUT-rition line of products (they also have mixes in jar form, etc.) and this one is formulated as the Antioxidant blend. The Antioxidant blend consists of almonds, blueberries, cranberries, peanuts and coated in dark chocolate. I'm not going to play amateur scientist here, but I'm guessing that blend is good for your antioxidants. Anyway, it's 160 calories per bar and I picked this up as part of a five pack box at Marsh for around $3.50 (I think, it's been a while).
