Review: South Beach Diet Whipped Chocolate Almond Snack Bars

I've mentioned countless times on this blog that one of my strange, quirky and favorite past times is trolling The Dollar Tree to see what kind of random stuff I can find.  It's mostly just junk, but every now and then, something will pop up that is actually a viable purchase.  As it relates to today's review, that is just the case as I was able to pick up this box of five South Beach Diet Whipped Chocolate Almond Snack Bars on sale for the unsurprising $1.00 to add to my South Beach Diet review collection.  Each bar in the box is 0.98 ounces and has 100 calories and six grams of protein.

Review: Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Raspberry Cereal Bar

Most days for lunch, I grab an apple and some grapes out of my company's wellness refrigerator and I am set. Occasionally though, they run out of those things because some people took too much (occasionally guilty) or they just haven't had a grocery run in a while and the stock has just run out.  On those occasions, I have to grab some sort of pre-packaged product like raisins or in this case, the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Raspberry cereal bar. Since I didn't pay for this myself, I can't tell you specifically how much it costs, but I think you can usually pick them up at the store for around $3.00 for an eight bar box.  As for the rest of the bar, it weighs in at a nice sized 1.3 ounces and contains 120 calories per bar.  It touts itself as a good source of fiber and being that it has  10% of your daily fiber allotment (based on the typical 2,000 calorie diet), I would say that is a fair statement being made by Kellogg's.

Review: Tiger's Milk Peanut Butter Nutrition Bar

This is not my first Tiger's Milk bar review on this blog.  My last review gave me a boring bar that did nothing particularly outstanding and made me wonder how America's first nutrition bar had stayed in business for so long.  Since I picked up that bar at Walmart for $0.99 along with this Peanut Butter flavored bar, I've got another review to do.  Based on my last review, it's not exactly a review that I was looking forward too.  That said, let's get to it...this King Size bar clocks in at 1.94 ounces and contains 230 calories with nine grams of protein.

Review: Atkins Day Break Cherry Pecan Bar

For those of you that don't know, Atkins of Dr. Atkins fame has a daily diet plan where they plan out all your meals/snacks for the day.  One of those lines is the "Day Break" line.  I signed up for a coupon list a while back and got a coupon for Atkins Day Break bars and when I saw them on sale at Meier for a box of five for $5.50 (plus my $1.00 coupon), I had to make the leap and give them a shot.  Each of these Atkins Day Break Cherry Pecan bars is 160 calories and 1.2 ounces.

Review: Tiger's Milk Snack Bar

It was a lazy Sunday and I was meandering my way through the pharmacy section of Walmart looking at the various protein and nutrition bars that they had available and I came up on this: the Tiger's Milk Snack Bar.  Having never seen this ANYWHERE before, I was immediately intrigued by the name.  Seeing them proclaim themselves as "America's Original Nutrition Bar" (it was introduced in the 1960s) had me even more interested and I figured that for $0.99, how could I go wrong by picking one up?  For this to be the oldest bar in America, it must be good, right?  This "King Size" bar is a reasonably sized bar at 1.94 ounces (smaller than a Snickers) that packs 220 calories and ten grams of protein.  For a product whose packaging includes the phrase "PROTEIN RICH", I would have expected a little bit more than ten grams, but whatever, I was just hoping it would make me growl like a tiger!  Sorry, I can't get over such an absurd name for a product.
