Review: Kellogg's Special K Blueberry Bliss Bars

We all know Kellogg's is a machine and I've covered that ad nauseam on this blog in countless Kellogg's reviews.  Well, the machine has pumped out another one for it's Special K line as I picked up a box of six of these Kellogg's Special K Blueberry Bliss Bars on sale recently at Kroger for a bargain basement price of $1.99.  Basically, these bars only serve a purpose as a snack bar because despite the fact that they are bundled under the Special K line, they really are just manufactured junk under the guise of being healthy.  That said, each bar in the box is a tiny 0.88 ounces and packs a small 100 calories and two grams of protein.

Really, all Special K bars pretty much look alike.  They are a base of puffed rice and oats and that is most certainly what this was.  Within that puffed rice was a mix of dried blueberries...or were they cranberries with blueberry juice injected?  I can never tell.  Either way, there were some dried fruits in here.  I know that for certain.  The bar was also extremely sticky from the various syrups that were holding this together.  Outside of a fruity smell, there really isn't much else to cover here.  Like I said, it's just like any other Special K bar from a presentation perspective.

It's also like a lot of the Special K bars from a flavor perspective too.  It's soft and chewy with a slight hint of fruit flavor.  In this case, it carries blueberry sweetness and cranberry tang.  There's also apparently some apple and coconut derivatives in here too according to the label.  None of them is really definable though, so I'll just roll them into one ingredient called "Cocoblueppleberry."  Really all the bar really boils down to is some airy chewiness with some sticky chewiness and a hint of tang.  That's about it.

Buy It or Fly By It?  It's a boring bar, but it delivers enough flavor to make it a worthwhile eating experience and a perfect snack food so it gets a BUY IT rating.  I'm not going to go knocking over any old ladies in a grocery store to get to this first, but if I do catch it on a decent sale, I'll make sure a box of these "fall" into my cart.

BUY IT!!
