Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar
Since Fiber One products have been the subject at some crazy sales at my local grocery stores lately, I've been picking up a box at just about every store on every visit when I see a different flavor and that's led to a lot of reviews. It was on a recent trip to Kroger that I picked up a box of five of these Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars on sale for $2.49. Chocolate and peanut butter is kind of a boring combination, but a good one and since I want to review as many products as possible, it's only fitting that I nail these too. Each of these bars comes in at 0.82 ounces and has 90 calories (obviously) and one gram of protein.
Review: Odwalla Chocolate Almond Coconut Chewy Nut Bar
After having done several Odwalla reviews, I figured their bars were mostly the same in that they were soft, pliable bars that consisted of various fruits. On a recent trip to Kroger, I was surprised when I saw a type of Odwalla bar that I had never seen before in this Odwalla Chocolate Almond Coconut Chewy Nut Bar. I didn't know that they had nut bars, so this was news to me. As for the numeric specifics of the bar, I picked it up on sale for $1.00 and it came in at 1.6 ounces and 200 calories with four grams of protein. It's also made with real fruit and whole cereal grains, so hooray for that.

Review: Patak's Original Rogan Josh Curry Simmer Sauce
My experience with ethnic food, specifically Indian food, has been very limited here on the blog even though reviewing those types of foods was one of my original missions when I first started that blog. Still, I have done some reviews relating to one or both of those things and it's an increased focused on that mission here in 2013 that leads me to do another Patak's review with this review of a fifteen ounce jar of there Patak's Original Rogan Josh Curry Simmer Sauce that I picked up at Kroger for $2.99. Each jar contains three servings and each serving is a relatively budget-like (in my mind) 100 calories. On the Patak's spice scale, this rated as a medium as well. Rogan Josh is typically served with lamb, but I decided to use it like a lot of Indians would, meaning that I stuck to being strictly vegetarian and mixed it with plain Ramen noodles (not something a typical Indian would do).

Review: LUNA Fiber Vanilla Blueberry Bar
I've had some really good experiences with LUNA Fiber bars so far, although those past experience have included chocolate as one of the ingredients, so it they had a leg up solely because of that. Stepping outside of that realm for the first time, it's time to review the LUNA Fiber Vanilla Blueberry Bar that I picked up on the same shopping trip as the others at Kroger for $1.00. Also like the others, this one weighs in at 1.41 ounces. It's 110 calories, has a lonely gram of protein and naturally, since it's a Fiber bar, has a solid seven grams of fiber.
Review: Kellogg's Special K Honey Barbecue Cracker Chips
Once again, I'm the victim of a huge food conglomerate constantly introducing new flavors that need to be reviewed like the others have been. In this case, it's Kellogg's adding yet another flavor to their Special K Cracker Chips line with this Kellogg's Special K Honey Barbecue Cracker Chips that popped up out of nowhere as I was meandering through my local Marsh grocery store recently. Honey Barbecue seems like a natural flavor to add to the Cracker Chips line as I would guess it is one of the more popular potato chip flavors out there. This box set me back $2.49 at the sale price and each box comes in at four ounces with 3.5 servings at 110 calories per serving. As a frame of reference, Kellogg's considers a serving to be roughly 27 cracker chips, so when you think about it, that's actually quite a bit because each of these chips is roughly a little bigger than a silver dollar.

Review: Nabisco SnackWell's Peanut Butter Cereal Bar
I was pleasantly surprised in my last SnackWell's review. I expected something relatively boring, but what I got instead was something that I thoroughly enjoyed and that heightened my expectations for my next review of this Nabisco SnackWell's Peanut Butter Cereal Bar. Now, the only flavor in this bar is peanut butter, so I couldn't expect it to be all that spectacular, but after my last experience I just couldn't help the large expectations. I picked these up at Marsh for $2.99 and each box comes with five bars weighing 1.23 ounces per bar. Each bar has 140 calories and has a moderately surprising eight grams of protein.

Review: Quaker Chewy School Days! Amazing Apple Granola Bar
I mentioned in one of my previous review of Quaker's Chewy School Days! bars that this School Days! line is a product exclusive to Target stores. On that same trip, I picked up a box of these Quaker Chewy School Days! Amazing Apple Granola Bars for $2.29. Each box contains eight bars that weigh 0.91 ounces and have 100 calories each. Since this is in fact School Days!, the box is cutely modeled after a lunch box in hopes that parents will take the not so subtle hint and toss one of these into their kids lunch boxes for a school day treat. Those people at Quaker are pretty crafty, eh?

Review: Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Cranberry Almond Bar
I consider myself perfect and also simple, so these bars should be right up my alley, right? Okay, I'm neither perfect and I'm not all that simple, but that was the best introductory line that I could come up with, which proves that I am far from perfect and actually could be considered borderline awful. Anyway, Zone Perfect has read some of my prior reviews and sent me some free samples of their bars to try out and it's those free samples that lead me to try out this Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Cranberry Almond Bar. This bar is 1.58 ounces and has 170 calories with ten grams of protein. It's Perfectly Simple because it is made up of a limited amount of ingredients, which in this case, is ten ten ingredients.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Slow Churned French Silk Light Ice Cream
One of my weekly routines is to sit down on a Sunday and go through the coupon flyer. It makes me feel like an old grandma when I do it, but hey, I think I've proven via this blog that I like deals. Most of the time, the coupons are garbage for stuff that I don't need, but as I was thumbing through recently, I found a coupon for Edy's ice cream and that coupon leads me to another Edy's review with this Edy's Slow Churned French Silk Light Ice Cream that I picked up on sale for $2.50 for a 1.5 quart container. Since this is Slow Churned and thus lighter, it has 130 calories per serving and the container has roughly twelve half-cup servings of ice cream.

Review: Muller Corner Lowfat Yogurt with Choco Balls
With the exception of Peach Passion Fruit, which sounds disgusting to me, I think I've bought and reviewed possibly every single flavor of Muller yogurt that Kroger (at least mine) has in stock. In bottoming out that supply, I picked up this Muller Corner Lowfat Yogurt with Choco Balls in a previously mentioned 11/$10 sale, so it came in at roughly $0.91. Like the other Corner yogurt products was divided into two compartments of purported goodness and the total weight of the product was 5.3 ounces. Calorie-wise, it comes in with 210 calories and nine grams of protein.
Review: Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Protein Mixed Nut Bar
It's like Kellogg's and General Mills (via Nature Valley) are having a competition to see who can put the most products on sale at my local grocery stores recently. It's been great for me, the consumer, as it leads to a lot of reviews, but I can't see how it can be great for those companies unless they are using it as a way to introduce new products and force them onto customers. If that is the case, they've forced this new product on to me as I picked up a box of five these Kellogg's FiberPlus Antioxidants Protein Mixed Nut Bars at a sale price of $2.49. Each bar is 1.41 ounces and is 170 calories with ten grams of protein and seven grams of fiber. I think this is the first time I've seen a bar that goes for both the protein AND the fiber market, so how can it go wrong? Actually, there are tons of ways that can go wrong, especially when it comes to flavor and that's why I'm here to test it out.

Review: Sneaky Pete's Apples Away Naturally Oatstanding Beverage
When I was growing up, 95% of my morning started off with a glass of orange juice, which got particularly boring. In the other 5% of the time, my parents would either get us white grape juice or apple juice which were both so delicious that we viewed them as a treat. We also gulped them down at world record speed, so in order to prevent themselves from having to enter the poor house just to feed our juice habit, my parents kept them as "treats" and only purchased them sporadically. Since I left for college many years ago, you could probably count on both hands the number of glasses of apple juice that I've had, which is why this review of Sneaky Pete's Apples Away Naturally Oatstanding Beverage is kind of nostalgic for me. Plus, it's apples and oats, which are two of my favorite things, so I was very curious to see what this was like when I found it in Meijer for $1.25. It's twelve ounces and is a low calorie drink at only 40 calories. It's good for cholesterol and high in fiber (equivalent to one bowl of oatmeal), so this one has got all sorts of health benefits. Sometimes the taste doesn't measure up to the health benefits though, so that is what my review is here to test out.

Review: Fiber One Protein Caramel Nut Chewy Bar
One thing I wish the world had more of was more bars that were covered in chocolate instead of just being granola bars with add-ins. Quaker has gone a long way doing this with their Dipps line of bars, but now Fiber One is joining the fray by not only releasing a bar that is covered in chocolate, but also one that is a protein bar as well with their release of this Fiber One Protein Caramel Nut Chewy Bar to add to my Fiber One bar review archives. I picked up a box of five of these at Marsh for $2.49 and each bar is 1.17 ounces and 130 calories with seven grams of protein. It's 20% of your daily fiber value as well.

Review: thinkThin Caramel Fudge High Protein Bar
For better or worse, there is a lot of variety in the nutrition bar aisle at Kroger. Several months ago, I spotted these thinkThin bars popping up in the aisle and put them on my to-do list for bars to review but kept putting it off in favor of doing countless variations of the same product manufacturers. Finally on a recent trip to the store, I picked up a couple of these bars to review for $1.25 each and today's review of the thinkThin Caramel Fudge High Protein Bar is the first in that series. This bar itself comes in at a robust 2.1 ounces (not at all thin) and has 240 calories with a solid twenty grams of protein. It's also gluten free, sugar free and professes on the label that it is natural, so it's got a lot of good thing going for it.

Review: Kashi Apple Cobbler Soft n' Chewy Bar
As if having a previously reviewed soft-baked square wasn't enough, Kashi has decided to go the extra step and release another line of similar bars with the added bonus that these bars are not only soft, but they are also chewy. Lucky us! I had a coupon for one of these new bars, so I picked up a box of five Kashi Apple Cobbler Soft n' Chewy Bars on sale at Marsh for $2.99 (that was the sale price; my coupon deducted more). Each bar in the box is 1.4 ounces and has 130 calories with three grams of protein. It's all natural and is made with real fruits and veggies. Veggies?! Ummm...based on the name of this, the fact that it advertises the presence of veggies is sort of frightening to me.

Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Crunchy Oats & Honey Granola Bars
If you follow or have read this blog before, you'd know that there are very few things in this world that I enjoy more than receiving free stuff. So, on the sporadic occasion that a representative for a manufacturer contacts me asking me to try one of their products, it's almost like Christmas to me. That happened recently when a rep for Cascadian Farms reached out to me offering several new products to review and being the dutiful benefactor that I am, I accepted those products and that leads to this first review of the Cascadian Farm Organic Crunchy Oats & Honey Granola Bars. These bars are organic and also made of a limited amount of ingredients, so one could surmise that they are quite healthy. In terms of the bars themselves, these came in a box of ten bars that consisted of five pouches that had two bars each. Pretty much the same way that Nature Valley bundles their granola bars. Each pouch of two bars is 1.42 ounces, has 180 calories and four grams of protein. Obviously if you divide those numbers in half, you'll get the measurables for each individual bar.

Review: JELL-O Mix-Ins Turtle Sundae Pudding
I've never hidden the fact on this blog that I am pretty oblivious when it comes to a lot of things and up until about three years ago, I was oblivious to the existence of the product that today's review is modeled after. Today, I'm adding to my JELL-O Mix-Ins collection with this review of the JELL-O Mix-Ins Turtle Sundae Pudding that I picked up at Meijer in a two-pack on sale for $1.25. The reason I mentioned my proclivity toward obliviousness is that for the overwhelming majority of my life, I had never heard of a Turtle Sundae. Yep, that's right, I had never heard of one of the most classic ice cream sundaes until I was thirty. As always, I'm a rube. Anyway, each one of these pudding cups is roughly 3.4 ounces and is 150 calories per cup.

Review: Kraft MilkBite Strawberry Milk & Granola Bar
These Kraft MilkBite bars are brilliant in their simplicity. The pick one flavor, mix it with milk and that's it. I've already touched on a couple of flavors previously, but as I also mentioned before, I picked up a couple of flavors at the same time and that leads me to this review of the Kraft MilkBite Strawberry Milk & Granola Bar. Like the other, I picked this one up on sale at Meijer in a box of five bars on sale for $2.99. Each bar is 1.23 ounces and has 140 calories and five grams of protein. It's also a fifth of your daily calcium intake, so hooray for bone health!

Review: Healthy Choice Premium Fudge Bar
I sometimes end up at my mom's house for dinner (just like yesterday's review) and after dinner, because of this blog, I've pre-programmed myself to always require dessert, kind of like a drug addict. Since she's not an obsessive food review blogger, my mom isn't always stocked with the most exotic desserts. On a recent visit though, she was stocked with a giant box of these Healthy Choice Premium Fudge Bars that she picked up at Costco (her favorite place in the world). I don't typically just eat dessert bars as I prefer the exotic stuff that I've reviewed on this blog, but hey, beggars can't be choosers, so I figured that I'd give one of these a shot and also a review. Not sure how many bars are in the box, but I'm sure since it is Costco, the amount of bars are somewhere around the number of one million per box. Anyway, the one bar that I did have was three fluid ounces and 100 calories per bar. This is also sugar free and low fat as well, so it is a healthier choice that hour typical frozen dessert bar.

Review: Velvet Ice Cream Company Denali Moose Tracks Ice Cream
If you really look at it, Moose Tracks is kind of like vanilla or chocolate in the ice cream world. It's a flavor combination created by Denali that is licensed out to ice cream manufacturers to make under their own label. I've looked at other versions of Moose Tracks before, but never one from Velvet Ice Cream Company based out of Ohio. In my previous Velvet review, I had my socks knocked off by how awesome their Buckeye Classic flavor was, so despite the fact that Moose Tracks is sort of a generic flavor, I had high expectations heading into this review of the 1.75 quart container of this Velvet Ice Cream Company Denali Moose Tracks Ice Cream. My mom picked this one up, so I actually didn't pay for it (or eat it at my house as the different picture background above indicates), but I can tell you that I have seen this in Kroger for roughly $5.99 for the container. Since this is two scoops/servings bigger than the typical ice cream container, I can tell you that this one had fourteen half-cup servings at 190 calories per serving.

Review: Body Fortress Energy Chocolate Cookie Crisp Protein Bar
While I was less than impressed, but not repulsed, by my first Body Fortress protein bar review, I figure that another review is in order since I picked up two of these in the meathead section of my local Kroger and I hate to waste money/food by just throwing things out without giving them a chance. So, I picked up this Body Fortress Energy Chocolate Cookie Crisp Protein Bar for $1.25 and the bar itself is 1.52 ounces with 170 calories and eight grams of protein. Like the last bar, there is no indication as to what this bar is going to be like on the wrapper other than the name of the flavor, so any sort of pre-conceived notions that I may have about this truly are guesses. But hey, verifying or disproving those guesses is why I do reviews!

Review: Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates Peanut Butter Creme Candy
I always struggle with Skinny Cow products. Most of the time, I find their products to be tasty, but just not quite worth the price. Being the glutton for punishment and/or masochist that I am though, I still continue to buy their overpriced products to try out and as I was walking through Meijer the other day, I saw that they've introduced a new candy product line and that leads me to this first review from that line with the Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates Peanut Butter Creme Candy. I picked up a box of this for $3.50 and each box contains six 1.0 ounce packages and each package is 130 calories (four points on the WeightWatchers Points Plus scale). Within each package are three pieces of candy, so all of you math wizards out there can calculate the size and caloric levels on your own.

Review: South Beach Diet Good to Go Cinnamon Raisin Bar
These South Beach Diet bars are something that I've seen in the store many times but have always stayed away from because I've always considered them a fad and also because they were ridiculously expensive. Okay, I'm kidding myself...I don't care about the fad part...I just didn't want to pay for something that I deemed as expensive. That said, on a recent trip to Meijer, they had a box of five of these South Beach Diet Good to Go Cinnamon Raisin Bars marked down to $1.99 and believing that to be an excellent price, I knew I had to grab the box off the shelf for my first try at one of their bars. Each bar in the box is 1.23 ounces and 130 calories with nine grams of protein and three grams of fiber. It has no artificial flavors or sweeteners and is also made of whole grains, so it's got all that health kick going for it. It's also got a new and improved taste, which means nothing to me since I've never had the old taste, but if they are going to advertise it, I'd assume that it is a good thing. Another thing about these bars (and the diet) is that they are built on the principle of "Strategic Snacking", which means that you are supposed to use these as well-timed snacks to keep you energized and satisfied while on the run. I wasn't on the run, but I was looking to get satisfied (as always), so one I go with the review...
Review: Blue Bell Moo-llenium Crunch Ice Cream
Blue Bell got off to a slow start on this blog and even when I did start doing reviews of their products, I stuck only to pint-sized containers, which kind of limited my flavor options since Blue Bell does not do many pints (at least in my local stores). Seeing a sale at my local Meijer, I finally decided to step outside the pint-sized container realm and embark upon my first review of one of their half-gallon size flavors with this review of their Blue Bell Moo-llenium Crunch Ice Cream which was on sale for $4.23 at Meijer. Very few companies still make half-gallon sized containers, so that's a point of pride for Blue Bell and it's about time I joined the party with a review of one. Each half-gallon is sixteen half-cup servings and each serving is 170 calories (according to the container; the website says 190).

Review: Saffron Road Falafel Crunchy Chickpeas
Despite the fact that I'm not the world's largest fan of chickpeas (but I do like hummus; go figure?), I was pleasantly surprised in my last Saffron Road review of one of their crunchy chickpeas products. Like the last time, I obtained this Saffron Road Falafel Crunchy Chickpeas via a publicity agent for Saffron Road, so now I've got another review! Exactly like the last review, this is a six ounce resealable bag with six servings with each one ounce serving coming at 120 calories. It's a high source of protein, it's gluten free, certified Halal, organic and just a generally healthy snack. Yay chickpeas!
Review: Yoplait Honey Caramel Low Fat Frozen Greek Yogurt
Last year, Yoplait started putting out frozen yogurts, both regular and Greek into the stores. I've reviewed several Yoplait products but have been way behind the curve on these frozen ones, but I finally picked one up a pint of this Yoplait Honey Caramel Low Fat Frozen Greek Yogurt on a trip to my recent Walmart. It says that it is new on the container, so while I've been late on the frozen yogurt products in general, maybe I'm not late on this flavor (of course, they could have not changed the packaging yet or this could be an old pint meaning that this one may have been out for a while). Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving is 130 calories. Basically, that means you can eat an entire pint and not even feel all that guilty. Okay, perhaps that's not recommended, but it is possible.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Limited Batch Cannoli Ice Cream
Several months ago, as they are prone to do, Ben & Jerry's introduced another limited batch flavor to add to their expansive list of flavors. This Ben & Jerry's Limited Batch Cannoli Ice Cream was so difficult to find that they even started a social media campaign called #FindCannoli that allowed people to post where they had found a pint in their local stores. I had been checking that page and my stores periodically and had never been able to find it, but while stumbling through Meijer the other day looking for something to quench my absurd ice cream infatuation, I was stunned to find a pint of this previously unseen Cannoli ice cream staring me in the face in the freezer case. Since I'd been looking for it for months, I quickly gobbled up even at the non-sale price of $3.99, which I rarely ever do, and brought it up to add to my Ben & Jerry's review series. As always, this pint container contains four half-cup servings of ice cream and each serving comes in at a belt-busting 280 calories. Unhealthy and calorically heavy ice creams are nothing new for Ben & Jerry's, so there's no surprises there. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't eaten a lot of Cannolis in my life, but I have had enough to know that I know what they taste like and I like them. The fact that they are trying to put this into ice cream form is more than intriguing for me, so I was anxious to try this out after my long and arduous search.

Site News: Another Dessert Week!
Last week, I posted a bunch of healthy reviews with granola bars, fiber bars, etc.
Upon reviewing all the posts I have in draft status, I realized that I have a lot of unhealthy reviews of desserts out there that I haven't posted yet, so why not have some fun this week?
This week, I'm going to post a review of a dessert-related product every single day. There will still be some "healthy" stuff on certain days, but I'll go full-out unhealthy for every single day. I mean, why is live worth living if you can't have fun sometimes.
Enjoy all the treats and thanks again for reading!

Review: Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola Thins
I've been hit by a mad flurry of Nature Valley product recently for some reason, so adding to my already expansive review collection is another one of those reviews as I take a look at this Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola Thins single bar. I got this during the hilarious snack time at work, but having bought these at the store before, I know that they ordinarily come in a box of ten for around $3.00 to $4.00. Each Granola Thin is 0.6 ounces, 80 calories and has a barely perceptible one gram of protein.

Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie
I believe I've mentioned before that I'm not a lover of brownies. Don't get me wrong, brownies are fine, but some people obsess over them (my brother, for example). That said, despite my lack of obsession for brownies, I've been more than willing to try them out in Fiber One reviews for the blog and I've found them to be pretty darn good. It's that successful track record (and a sale) that leads me to try out one of Fiber One's new brownie products with this review of the Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies that I picked up on sale in a box of six at Meijer for $3.00. Each brownie weighs 0.86 ounces and is obviously 90 calories. It's got a lot of fiber and if you read the box, it's now got 40% more peanut butter chips!

Review: LUNA Fiber Chocolate Raspberry Bar
While I've had varying success with LUNA products on the blog in general, my first experience with a bar from their new Fiber line of products was delightful, so to say I was excited to do a second review of this LUNA Fiber Chocolate Raspberry Bar would be an understatement. The last one was delicious, so this one had to be delicious too, right? Well, it doesn't always work that way and that's why I do reviews. I picked this one up on sale at Kroger for $1.00 and it comes in at 1.41 ounces with a economical 110 calories and two grams of protein.

Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Caramel & Pretzel Bar
Caramel and chocolate...yum. Caramel, chocolate and pretzels? Even more yum, so when I saw boxes of Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Caramel & Pretzel Bars at Kroger being advertised as a new flavor, I knew I had to grab a box off the shelf to add to my growing collection of Fiber One reviews. The fact that they were on sale for $2.49 for the box certainly helped as well, because I'm a price shopper more often than not and I'm not sure I would have bought these if they were at the regular price, whatever that was. Each bar is 0.82 ounces and is obviously 90 calories. It also contains 20% of your daily fiber, so it'll help you out down there too.

Review: Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Cranberry & Pomegranate Bar
I'm beginning to think that the person responsible for buying the snacks for snack time in my office has stock in General Mills and is trying to get us addicted to their products by putting out snacks such as this Nature Valley Chew Trail Mix Cranberry & Pomegranate Bar to add to my collection of Nature Valley reviews. I've already mentioned that I didn't pay for this, so I don't have a price, but what I do know is that this bar is 1.1 ounces and has 130 calories with a barely there two grams of protein. It's a snack bar though and not a protein bar, so I guess I shouldn't be so derogatory when describing the protein level. My bad.

Review: Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream
Personally, I'm a fan of Turkey Hill ice creams. I've reviewed several of them on the blog and while there have been some flavor misses, I would say that for the most part, I find most of their flavors to be excellent. After having seen several review of this Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream on various blogs across the web, I knew I finally had to bite the bullet and do a review of my own for this blog. This is a seasonal flavor, so I don't know much longer it'll be in the store, but it was in my local Kroger and I picked up a 1.5 quarter container of it on sale for $3.50. Each container has roughly twelve servings measuring at about a half cup each and each serving has 160 calories.
Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie
My last Fiber One 90 Calorie Brownie review left quite an impression because it was delicious. For that review, I ate it at room temperature and found it to be wonderful. Based on a suggestion from a reader, I heated it up the next time I ate one and it took it to the next level of awesomeness, so to say I was geeked to see if that winning streak continued with this Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie would be an understatement. I picked up a box of six of these at Kroger on sale for $2.49 and each brownie is 0.89 ounces and has 90 calories (DUH) and has 20% of your daily fiber intake (on a 2,000 calorie diet). That's packing a lot of fiber power in a small package.

Review: Nature Valley Protein Peanut, Almond & Dark Chocolate Chewy Bar
I've had good experiences with Nature Valley bars on this blog, but that shouldn't really be all that surprising. Nature Valley is a product of a monster conglomerate (General Mills), so it's only natural that their products would not be offensive to the general public. It's the same situation as Quaker Oats...nothing truly horrible is going to make it to the store shelves because it has already been through hundreds of iterations of product testing before it even gets there. Large corporations like to hedge their bets that way, unless their name is Bear Stearns or Lehman Brothers. Oops. Anyway, I grabbed this Nature Valley Protein Peanut, Almond & Dark Chocolate Chewy Bar at snack time at work (LOL) and it's 1.42 ounces and 190 calories. It's also Nature Valley's attempt at the protein market, so they've amped up the customary minimal amount of protein that their bars usually have to a larger ten grams of protein in this case.

Site News: General Mills Week
I've been noticing recently as I've been burrowing through reviews that I have been typing up a lot of reviews of General Mills products, specifically Nature Valley and Fiber One products. Because of that backlog of General Mills products that I've built up, I'm going to spend the next week posting a review everyday from Monday through Saturday of a General Mills product.
Hopefully you enjoy and thanks again for reading!

Review: KIND Nuts & Spice Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt Bar
For such a well known manufacturer, I find it odd that I've only done sporadic reviews of KIND products on the blog, especially in the beginning. I've tried to pick it up and review more products as time as gone on, but KIND is still not represented all that well on the blog and I really can't figure out why it has turned out that way. So, in order to give them some better representation (and also because I got a freebie as an add-on to an Amazon.com purchase that I made), I'm led to this review of the KIND Nuts & Spice Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt Bar. This one comes in at 1.4 ounces and is angled more toward the protein aspect of KIND bars as it has a higher amount of protein that the typical bar in that it has six grams and also 200 calories.

Review: Van de Kamp's ParchmentBake Garlic Butter Tilapia
I've mentioned before on the blog that I did not become a fan of seafood, specifically fish, until later in life. For the purposes of this blog, I've only reviewed Gorton's frozen fish products and I've even reviewed the same flavor as this Van de Kamp's ParchmentBake Garlic Butter Tilapia. Because of that, I'll be able to draw a comparison as to which company puts out a better product in this flavor. For the price and nutrition hounds out there, I picked up this box at Meijer on sale for $3.99. There are two frozen fillets per box and each fillet comes in at roughly 3.6 ounces with 80 calories and fourteen grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Cherry Vanilla Soft-Baked Cereal Bar
I've mentioned before that I don't post these reviews in the order in which I actually do them, but at the time that I'm typing this review, it seems like all I've been reviewing lately are cereal bars as my most recent handful of reviews that I've typed have been cereal bars and when I look at my queue of upcoming reviews, I've still got a couple more to knock out. Yikes, there are a lot of cereal bars out there on the market. So much so that I didn't even realize that the cereal bar market was so cutthroat and competitive. With that, I continue my cereal bar run, as I've got another Kashi review with this review of the Kashi Cherry Vanilla Soft-Baked Cereal Bar. I got this during the hilarious snack time at my work, meaning it was free. The pertinent details for this bar are that it is 1.2 ounces with 120 calories and two grams of protein.

Review: Kraft MilkBite Chocolate Milk & Granola Bar
This past fall, I took a belated look at what had been a new product release that had occurred several months prior to my review. Despite the fact that I found that particular MilkBite bar to be downright delicious, I'd stayed away from these bars until recently when I picked up a couple of boxes of five bars consisting of different flavors on sale at Meijer for $2.99. In this review, I'll take a look at the Kraft MilkBite Chocolate Milk & Granola Bars. Each bar in this box comes in at 1.23 ounces and has 140 calories with five grams of protein. It's listed as a good source of fiber and also proclaims to contain 30% of your daily calcium intake. That's quite some whallop for in a small package. Since it contains milk, it needs to be stored in the refrigerator.

Review: Breyers Blasts! Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Chocolate Frozen Dairy Dessert
I've had a lot of success with Breyers Blasts! reviews on this blog. More often than not, I've found them to be particularly delicious and well stuffed with add-ins. One thing I have done is try to avoid what I consider "boring" and run-of-the-mill flavors like Snickers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, etc. because I've wanted to try some off the ones that seemed (to me at least) to jump out of the freezer at the store. While doing my typical perusing of the freezer case at Meijer recently, I saw a new Reese's variation of the Blasts! product line with this Breyers Blasts! Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Chocolate Frozen Dairy Dessert that I picked up on sale for $3.00 for a 1.5 quart container. Each container has twelve half-cup servings and each serving is 140 calories.

Review: Sunbelt Bakery Fudge Dipped Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bar
To me personally, it is becoming comical how many of my reviews are based on products that I've been picking up at daily snack time at my office. But hey, I'm saving a couple bucks by not having to actually purchase these at the store, so in the end, it's a good thing for me. It's at a recent snack time that I picked up this Sunbelt Bakery Fudge Dipped Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bar. It comes in at 1.05 ounces and has 150 calories. It also proclaims that it has a "Bakery Fresh Taste" on the wrapper, but we'll let the Crazy Food Dude be the test of that one!
