Review: That's it. Apple + Pineapple Bar

I mentioned in my previous That's it. review that I was generously sent a big box of flavors to try out, so here we are again to try out another one of those flavors.  Today's flavor revolves around two ingredients (That's it.) that I have had an old and new relationship with.  First, I've loved apples my entire life, thus the old relationship.  Second, I've only recently come to enjoy pineapples, so that is the new relationship.  So, with that meaningless knowledge now passed along to you, it's time to take a look at this That's it. Apple + Pineapple Bar.  It comes in at 1.2 ounces and has 100 calories with ZERO grams of protein.  It's all natural, gluten free, kosher, raw and vegan.

As I've discussed previously, the thing with That's it. is that the named ingredients are all that they have in the bar.  It's pureed together and compressed into one big, soft mass.  That's the case with this bar as they've pureed up one whole apple and one quarter of a pineapple.  Because there is pineapple, the bar is a little bit more tan in color and it carries a definite pineapple smell.  If you look closely at the photo above, you can see those chunks of pineapple along with chunks of apple.  There's only two ingredients and both are represented, so there's not much else to say after that.

Taking a bite of this, the texture was soft and chewy, which is something I obviously expected based on the physical feel of this and the fact that I've eaten these previously.  The rest of this was just a mix of tartness, although the tartness came in two different ways and based on the fact that there were two ingredients, it should come in no surprise that it was a sweet tart from the apples and a biting tart from the pineapple.  It was sweet and tart and with the mild chunkiness of the two fruits that were blended together in the mass, it was an interesting experience.  I will point out about the tartness that it was primarily pineapple and while it was noticeable, it was not overly strong.  It was mostly just a bit more than what I would describe as "flat."

Buy It or Fly By It?  Had this had a bit more tartness from the pineapple in it, I think I would have liked it more.  That said, I still liked this enough to give it a BUY IT rating.  Perhaps the mix needs to included half of a pineapple next time as opposed to one quarter of a pineapple and that will fix everything to where I'd like it.  Wow, I'm a food recipe creator now and not just a reviewer.  Hooray for me!

BUY IT!!
