Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Mint Fudge Brownies

For the longest time, I was entirely against the combination of mint and chocolate.  I just did not like it and that was reflected in this blog as I generally stayed away from reviewing products that had that flavor combination.  Times (and tastes) change though and now, I not only can tolerate the mint and chocolate combination, but I will go so far as to say that I like it and seek it out.  It's with that new found appreciation, that I happily grabbed this new box of Fiber One 90 Calorie Mint Fudge Brownies off the shelves of my local Meijer for $2.50 to not only add to my Fiber One review collection, but to also add one more mint and chocolate combination to this blog.  Each box of these brownies includes six brownies an each brownie is 0.89 ounces with 90 calories (DUH).  Protein isn't important here (one gram), but fiber obviously is and this bar will definitely help you there as it has 20% of your total daily fiber based on a 2,000 calorie diet.  So, this is going to help you...ummm...down there.

I was all ready to type out what this was, but after reviewing Fiber One's website, I am going to be lazy (as I frequently am) and decide to let Fiber One take the lead on this and describe the bar on their own:  "A cool twist on your favorite 90 calorie brownie! Fiber One 90 Calorie Mint Fudge Brownies are a moist, rich treat filled with mint flavored chips and topped with a delicious drizzled topping."  I'm guessing the favorite is the Chocolate Fudge version that I've reviewed previously.  What I will point out in addition to what is already been written is that the mint chips in this are quite handsomely sized.  The "delicious drizzled" topping is also mint, which is something that Fiber One/General Mills neglected to include for some reason.  They were quite right on this being moist and my own assessment says that this smells minty too, so that is nice.

Being that this was a brownie, it was naturally soft and chewy when I bit into it.  The mint chips provided occasional quick pop in each chewy bite when I hit them, but being they melted quickly.  The drizzled topping also melted quickly and both of those melting qualities were nice as it allowed the brownie to stay moist as I chewed my way through it.  The flavor was definitely fudgy and minty in every facet of the imagination.  Rich chocolate flavor combined with that "fresh" kick that you'd typically get from mint.  The mint wasn't particularly overpowering and it definitely mixed well with the chocolate.

Buy It or Fly By It?  This was consistent mint and fudge flavor, which is all I could have asked for.  Having this in brownie form just makes it that much more interesting, so I'll give this a BUY IT rating.  While this is an old flavor combination, it's a nice addition to the Fiber One 90 Calorie brownie line by General Mills.

BUY IT!!
