Review: Come Ready Kids Chocolate Chip Bar

With each passing day, it becomes more and more apparent to me that I'm no longer a kid, no matter how much I'd like to be.  No responsibility, no REAL job, no true obligations, etc.  Does that sounds like fun?  Well, maybe not to some people, but it does sound like fun to me sometimes.  Anyway, despite the fact that I'm not longer a kid, I can still eat products that are clearly intended for kids and that leads me to today's review of a bar that appeared to me on a recent trip to Meijer.  I was able to pick up this Come Ready Kids Chocolate Chip Bar (since renamed to have "Zip!" at the end of the name) for $1.29 and the bar is 1.23 ounces with 140 calories and seven grams of protein.

Review: The GFB Gluten Free Bar Oatmeal Raisin Bar

I mentioned in a previous Gluten Free Bar review that I first thought they had been kicked out of my local Meijer, but like the Phoenix, they rose again with additional flavors.  I said that I picked up a couple of flavors and today's review of this The GFB Gluten Free Bar Oatmeal Raisin Bar is the second of those flavors that I was able to grab.  Like the last, this one was on the shelves of Meijer for $1.49.  It clocks in at 2.05 ounces with 220 calories and twelve grams of protein.  It's all natural, dairy free, soy free, vegan and obviously gluten free.

Review: Balance Bar Bare Sea Salt Caramel Nut Bar

Balance Bar is a product that I hit a lot in the early days of the blog and then it went a year before I reviewed it again.  I was thinking that prior to today that it had been at least eighteen months since I looked at one, but much to my surprise, I did a couple of reviews earlier this year.  Either way, review of Balance Bars have been few and far between since 2012.  So, today they make a return to the blog (again) as I take a look at this Balance Bar Bare Sea Salt Caramel Nut Bar that I was able to pick up at Meijer for $1.00.  The bar itself is 1.19 ounces and has 160 calories and five grams of protein.  It's also gluten and soy free, if you are interested in that kind of thing.

Review: Yoplait Greek Lemon Meringue 2% Greek Yogurt

When Kroger posted its Free Friday Download recently, I was slightly disappointed in the fact that it was a Yoplait Greek yogurt product because I thought I had reviewed all the flavors (that I care to review) already.  Much to my surprise, there is a flavor out there that I haven't yet looked at and that leads me to today's review of this single serving cup of Yoplait Greek Lemon Meringue 2% Greek Yogurt.  As I mentioned previously, this was a freebie, but it would ordinarily run in the $1.00 range if you are keeping score at home.  The cup itself contains 5.3 ounces of Greek yogurt and within that is 150 calories and eleven grams of protein.

Review: Gatorade G-Series Recover Chocolate Caramel Whey Protein Bar

If you read my last Gatorade G-Series Recover bar review, it means you are probably crazy.  Ha.  No, it means that you know the backstory of how I found a couple of new flavors in an "enemy" store (one that I don't visit often) and today's review is the second and final review of the bars that I was able to find.  Like last time, I picked up this Gatorade G-Series Recover Chocolate Caramel Whey Protein Bar at Marsh for $1.99.  It clocks in at 2.8 ounces and being that it is such a large bar, it packs in 340 calories and twenty grams of protein.

Review: The GFB Gluten Free Bar Cranberry Toasted Almond Bar

Last time I looked at one of these Gluten Free Bars, I picked it up on clearance at Meijer so I figured it was a one-time only review since they wouldn't be carrying them anymore.  Well, I was wrong.  Not only are they still carrying them, but they've also added more flavors and seeing that, I picked up a couple for reviews.  Today's review if the first of that purchase as I take a look at this The GFB Gluten Free Bar Cranberry Toasted Almond Bar that I was able to grab for $1.49.  It's 2.05 ounces and comes in with 225 calories and twelve grams of protein.  It's gluten free (DUH, or as the wrapper says OBVIOUSLY) and also soy free, dairy free AND vegan.

Review: Dannon Oikos Traditional Pumpkin Pie Greek Yogurt

You know a flavor profile has run its course and become overplayed when even the slow-moving behemoth manufacturers like Dannon are starting to make products of that flavor.  Usually, the smaller manufacturers that can make things and re-tool faster are the ones that make something popular and then the behemoths come in and ruin it for everyone.  Well, that's at least my fear and was my fear when I saw a product that could add another Dannon review  (and another pumpkin product) to the blog with this limited edition (of course) single serving cup of Dannon Oikos Traditional Pumpkin Pie Greek Yogurt that I picked up at Marsh for $1.09.  This cup comes in at the usual 5.3 ounces and has 170 calories with eleven grams of protein.

Review: Wholesome Goodness Cranberry Omega Granola Bar

It's another new manufacturer!  I always love it when I stumble upon something new in my usual stores because I sometimes worry that I'm going to run out of things that I can or want to review for this blog.  In the back of my head, I know that would never be a problem, but I worry because that's just the type of person that I am.  Anyway, today's new product is a Wholesome Goodness Cranberry Omega Granola Bar that I picked up at Marsh for $1.29.  It's 1.4 ounces and has 160 calories and three grams of protein.  As the name would imply, it's good for Omega fats too, so hooray I guess.

Review: Slow Food For Fast Lives California Bar

I've taken a look at three Slow Food For Fast Lives products so far on the blog and while two of them were oddly appealing, the third was a big miss.  I mentioned in that third review that I was terrified to review that product because it was so weird but I was even more terrified to review today's Slow Food For Fast Lives California Bar.  Just look at the ingredients on the wrapper...not exactly things that you typically think of in a snack bar and unless you are a vegetarian or a health nut, you rarely think about most of those ingredients in the first places.  Still, they were kind enough to send me free samples, so despite my perceived terror, I knew I still needed to review this bar.  For the purposes of the hard numbers, this one comes in at 1.4 ounces and has 140 calories and five grams of protein.  It's also all natural, gluten free and all that kind of fun stuff too.

Review: Good Humor Chocolate Eclair Ice Cream Bars

I've harped on it many times here, but sales make me do funny things.  They cause me to buy products I'd never consider buying just because the price looks attractive to me.  Ultimately, isn't that what the store is hoping I'll do though?  They are looking at the opportunity cost of getting someone to buy a product for the first time and then the lifetime value of the person if they like the product and will thus buy again.  I look at that kind of stuff in my job all the time, so it absolutely makes sense and it's both funny and depressing that I fell victim to that trick when I picked up this box of six Good Humor Chocolate Eclair Ice Cream Bars at Meijer for $1.99.  It's not my first Good Humor review, but it is once that I approach with a sense of humor (boy, I'm a great writer in my ability to tie that in) based on what I've already described.  Putting my self-congratulations aside, each ice cream bar in this box comes in at 3.0 ounces and has 210 calories of light ice cream fun.

Review: Chobani Pumpkin Spice 2% Blended Greek Yogurt

I had this conversation on Twitter several weeks back, but at what point do we say that the pumpkin spice flavor profile has jumped the shark and become overplayed?  I like the pumpkin flavor profile as much as anyone have certainly eaten A LOT of pumpkin products (beer, smoothies, ice cream, etc.), but even as a lover of that flavor, I'm starting to get a little tired of seeing this stuff all over the place.  One could almost argue that pumpkin is becoming the new vanilla because it's popping up everywhere.  Anyway, Chobani is another one to fall victim to the craze as today's review adds to my review collection as I take a look at one of their limited batch offerings in this Chobani Pumpkin Spice 2% Blended Greek Yogurt that I picked up at Marsh for $1.09.  Each 5.3 ounce single serving cup has 130 calories and twelve grams of protein.

Review: Stonyfield Organic Petite Creme Mon Cherry Amour Low Fat Sweet Fresh Cheese

Today's review is a big moment in the Stonyfield Organic Petite Creme review history.  It's one of the last flavors that I've actually seen in my store and it's also the one that I've been looking most forward to because of what the flavor actually is consists of (black cherry).  So, it was with a high sense of anticipation and eagerness that I grabbed this single serving container of Stonyfield Organic Petite Creme Mon Cherry Amour Low Fat Sweet Fresh Cheese out of the dairy case at my local Meier for $1.25.  This 5.3 ounce container comes in at 130 calories and packs in ten grams of protein into its cheese.

Review: PowerBar Performance Energy Chocolate Peanut Butter Wafer Bar

I mentioned in my last PowerBar review that it was their first review in quite some time on the blog after a long absence.  That review was of one of their new wafer bar products and since it appears they introduced two new flavors (at least that's what's available in my local Kroger), today's review is of the other flavor (a basic flavor combination at that, but hey, it's a review) with this look at the PowerBar Performance Energy Chocolate Peanut Butter Wafer Bar that I picked up for $1.00.  This before and during exercise stage bar comes in at 1.41 ounces and has 170 calories (the website says 180; I love it when the website and the wrapper differ...who should I believe?) and a minuscule three grams of protein.
