Review: Bakery On Main Truebar I'm An Apricot Almond Chai Bar With Nothing to Hide

There's something to be said about not hiding anything.  I mean, look at Richard Nixon.  Had he not conspired to hide The Watergate break-in, perhaps he would have never had to resign the presidency in disgrace.  On the other hand, hiding in a giant wooden horse allowed the Trojans to beat Sparta in ancient times.  So, is there really a right answer?  I don't know but apparently Bakery On Main feels that hiding is a bad thing as I've got another review from their Truebar product line that lays it all out there for the world to see with this Bakery On Main Truebar I'm An Apricot Almond Chai Bar With Nothing to Hide.  I got this bar for $1.99 at Marsh and it comes in at 1.40 ounces and has 160 calories and three grams of protein.

As the bar's name implies, it lays it all out there for the world to see.  As you can see in the photo above, there are large and plentiful almonds spread throughout the bar.  What is also plentiful is an abundant amount of chia seeds.  There are also dried apricots spread throughout and the bar itself is quite sticky from the included honey ingredient and has a strong smell of cinnamon and cardamom.  Citrus and cinnamon-like spice...I have to admit that I had a hard time wrapping my head around that one because it was different from most of the foods that I've ever experienced in my life.

Biting into this bar, it had varying textures as I chewed it.  The chia seeds added quite a bit of graininess and the apricots and base of the bar added a lot of soft chewiness.  What was also in here was a bit of occasional crunch from those pops of large almonds.  Outside of mouthfeel, the main concern here is of course the taste of the bar.  What was unique about this is that the cinnamon and cardamom, while having a strong scent, did not have much flavor presence in this bar.  It was there, but it was mainly overpowered by the citrus flavor that was present from the dried apricots and also lemon and raisin juices that were in the bar mix as a whole.  The apricots of course had an orange-like flavor and when mixed with the cinnamon and sweetness of the honey, it was a flavor that I had not quite experienced before.  It wasn't overpowering, but it was a strong flavor and since I'm good with citrus, it was definitely palatable for me.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Like I said, this bar was quite different.  Citrus flavor with a slight hint of cinnamon spice.  It was odd, but had a taste that I quite enjoyed, so I'll give this a BUY IT rating.  Whether or not hiding is the right choice in the end, hiding the ingredients for Bakery On Main certainly worked well in this Truebar.

BUY IT!!
