Review: Chobani flip Vanilla Golden Crunch Greek Yogurt

Chobani has had its line of flip products out for quite some time and I've touched on many of these in previous reviews here on the blog.  I was in Walmart recently and I saw a flavor that is either Walmart exclusive and/or a flavor that I've never seen before, so despite the fact that it was kind of a basic type of flavor, I knew I had to grab this single serving container of Chobani flip Vanilla Golden Crunch Greek Yogurt up for a review.  This one set me back a whole $1.00 and each container is 5.3 ounces and when combined has 150 calories and twelve grams of all natural Greek yogurt goodness.

As you can see, this is just like any of the flip products in that the Greek yogurt is in one compartment and the mix-ins are in the other compartment.  In the instance of this container, the Greek yogurt itself was vanilla flavored and had a slight, but not potent smell of said vanilla.  The primary smell was that of the Greek yogurt though.  The other compartment contained the "Golden Crunch" part of this presentation and that consisted of cornflakes (a cereal I HATED as a child), honey oats and praline pecans.  All of those components were reasonably sized and spread, so there's not a whole lot else to discuss other than what my picture above provides.

Mixing this together and then taking a spoonful of it provided a pretty mundane experience.  The Greek yogurt itself had a mild taste of vanilla but tasted more of typical Greek yogurt.  The only exception was that the sweetness of the vanilla did a decent job taming the tartness of the yogurt and it had an almost cheesy flavor, which is kind of bizarre.  As for the mix-ins, they definitely brought crunch, although the cornflakes got soggy and soft like they did in my morning breakfast cereal as a child.  The oats just brought graininess to the table and the praline pecans, while supposedly sweet, really only brought crunch.  Honestly, this was just like a morning breakfast, albeit with yogurt instead of a bowl of milk.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I can't say I was overly impressed with this, but I didn't expect to be going in.  It was what it was and there was nothing wrong with that, so I give that a BUY IT rating.  It's not exactly a ringing rating since it is more of a "congratulations for not screwing something simple up" type of rating, but sometimes you have to take what you get and in this instance for Chobani, I think that is a positive thing.

BUY IT!!
