Review: Quaker Real Medleys Blueberry Hazelnut Oatmeal +

I admit, I've been sitting on the source of today's product review for a quite a while.  As you can see above, it was obviously a "NEW" product when I bought it, but that has been quite a while and there is nothing new about it anymore.  Even though it's not new, it's time to introduce another review into my Quaker review catalog with this review of the single serving cup of Quaker Real Medleys Blueberry Hazelnut Oatmeal + that I picked up at Kroger for $1.33.  Each cup is 270 calories of oatmeal goodness.

Obviously this product is a base of oatmeal and I guess what makes it "+" is that it include multigrains.  I don't know what that means necessarily unless it literally means there are multiple grains in here, but I'm guessing it's a good thing.  Also within the mix of the oatmeal cup are various little roasted hazelnut pieces along with some whole (dried) blueberries and there were quite a bit of those blueberries as the picture above represents.  There was also a bit of brown sugar in there as well to bring some additional sweetness and some melting syrup qualities to the cup once it went through the microwave.

Biting into this, I was immediately met by the crunch of those small hazelnuts.  While they were essentially flavorless, the texture component that they brought along to the party was quite fun.  In addition to those hazelnuts, I was also privy to a large amount of suddenly plump blueberries (the water filled them up) and those blueberries were both sweet and tangy, which worked well with the typically bland oatmeal and the sweet and gooey melted brown sugar.  All in all, this was a perfectly nice mix of sweet and tang to go along with the filling and hearty oatmeal.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Of all the Real Medleys products that I've tried out from Quaker, I think this one might be my favorite, so it gets a BUY IT rating.  I'm always prejudiced toward anything with blueberries and they blueberries represented themselves quite well in this cup.  The hazelnuts brought some fun eating texture along as well and that was all finally capped off by the gooey brown sugar which made this a quick and easy breakfast time treat that I'd recommend you grab off the shelf if you see it.

BUY IT!!
