Review: Bell Plantation PBthins Peanut Butter Crackers

Bell Plantation's powdered peanut butter, known as PB2, was one of the first things that I reviewed on this blog.  To this day, I'm overwhelmingly addicted to them and probably order about four bags a month and yes, I know I have a problem.  I've stayed away from their other products, most notably these Bell Plantation PBthins Peanut Butter Crackers, for some odd reason since then.  When I recently made my monthly four-bag Amazon purchase, I decided to tack on a box of these for a price of $3.00.  The box itself is 7.0 ounces and contains nine servings of crackers, with each serving coming in at a relatively modest 100 calories each.

Being that these are made with Bell Plantation's namesake PB2, they obviously carry the same coloring as that product, but outside of that, there's not a lot to look at.  I would say the crackers have the dimensions slightly larger than a single die and carry the exact same peanut smell of the powdered PB2.  Other than that, there's not a whole lot to say here unless I want to really get creative and absurd in making things up.  I don't feel like doing that, so I'll just move on.

When I bit into this, I guess I was expecting a bit more than what I got.  What these basically are is a crunchy form of Bell Plantation's PB2 powdered peanut butter.  While I do love the flavor of their PB2, I add liquid to it to give it some creamy characteristics.  I didn't have that option with these crackers and what I got was something that was a very basic and dry peanut butter-ish flavored cracker with little-to-no sweetness.  That's nice, I suppose, but it's not exactly exciting and there's really nothing else to say here.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I mentioned several times already that I love their PB2, but I found these PBthins to be just way too boring and basic for me, so they get a FLY BY IT rating.  I hate to do that because I do love Bell Plantation's concept of making peanut butter a less fatty food, but it just doesn't work in the instance of these crackers.  They are fine, I suppose, but nothing about them screams that you've just got to have them.  That's why I can't really endorse them.

FLY BY IT!!

  1. Dude. I agree with you. I rather just take the PB2 and do my own thing with it. If I want a PB type of snack for 'crunchy purposes', it is hard to beat PB Puffins.

Oh, and I LOVE the new crazy-food-dude 'studio' box where you are taking your pictures! NICE!

    1. LOL, thanks for the kudos for the "studio" box. Some people had started taking liberties with "borrowing" my photos, so that was my lame attempt to try to stop that.
