Review: Honey Stinger Vanilla Organic Stinger Waffle

I mentioned in my last Honey Stinger review that while that flavor was basic, it was a good one that I particularly enjoyed.  In keeping with the basic theme of the last review, I'm going even more basic this time as I take a look at this Honey Stinger Vanilla Organic Stinger Waffle that I picked up at Kroger for $1.00.  Just like the last, this one comes in at 1.0 ounces with 160 calories and a comical zero grams of protein.  Oh well, not everything can be a protein delight.

I also mentioned in the last review that these waffles definitely reminded me of Stroopwafel and that is exactly the same in the case of this stinger waffle as well.  They key difference in this one versus the last one is the fact that this one includes an additional flavor of vanilla on top of the usual honey in the waffle.  After I unwrapped this, I knew there would be a lot of vanilla too as I was immediately hit with a strong scent of it as soon as I released this to the wild.  It was a nice and appetizing smell of vanilla too, so that gave me some nice thoughts about what I was about to eat.  One other thing of note with this was that the interior of the waffle almost had a vanilla creme type of interior.  That may have just been soft pastry, but it definitely reminded me of creme and since the vanilla scent of this was so strong, it definitely had my mind convinced that it was a creme interior.

When I took a bite of this it was soft and chewy,  just like a real waffle.  Being that I've reviewed one of these stinger waffles before, that was not the least bit surprising to me.  As for flavor, all I can say was that it was delightful.  It was a strong and also pleasing taste of vanilla mixed with a slight hint of sweetness from the honey that is the base of the waffle.  Honey Stinger's website lists this as a staff favorite and I can quite easily see why because everything about this was appeasing.  From the delightful taste and smell of the vanilla to the nice little hint of sweetness from the honey, everything about this spelled win.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I think I blew my cover in the last sentence of that previous paragraph, so I obviously give this a BUY IT rating.  I still haven't dipped one of these stinger waffles in coffee or tea as Honey Stinger recommends, but I can only imagine that this one would be beyond delicious if I did try to do that.  It just seems that the extra kick of vanilla would work incredibly with acidic taste of coffee.  Actually, my stomach is starting to rumble right now as I think about that, so I guess I've just given myself an assignment for next time I head to the store.

BUY IT!!

  2. I agree with you, though not protein forward, these are a great pre-run/race treat. I personally like the strawberry the best, the chocolate isn't bad, albeit a tad chalky
