Review: Pure Fitness Nutrition Krave Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch Protein Bar

Pure Fitness Nutrition was generous enough to send me some bars to sample and while its difficult to look a gift horse in the mouth, I had to give the last review a negative rating due to the fact that while the concept of the bar was exciting, the flavor was just boring.  In the case of today's review, I'm hoping it is the exact opposite.  Peanut butter and chocolate is a pretty standard flavor combination these days (thus the boredom), so I'm hoping that this Pure Fitness Nutrition Krave Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch Protein Bar can deliver more flavor punch than the actual the standard flavor recipe.  The bar itself is 2.50 ounces and comes in with a hearty 254 calories and twenty grams of protein.  It's also all natural, soy free and heavy on fiber, so there's a lot of added benefits to this bar as well which is nice.

As you can see above, the bulk of this bar goes heavy on the oats and chia seeds.  The bar is then bound together by peanut butter and honey and since both of those are sticky on their own, it should come as no surprise that the outside sheen of the bar is quite sticky as well.  Along with those aforementioned components, there's also helpings of actual peanut chunks and peanut butter chips in the mix of the bar as well, so Pure Fitness has thrown quite a few components into this tightly compacted bar.  Oh yeah, there's one more thing...hemp seed (huh, huh).  Other than the slightly darker peanut butter mix, there was no other detection of chocolate in this strongly smelling peanut butter bar.

The lack of detection of chocolate in appearance carried forward to the flavor as well as I could not taste any chocolate in this at all.  I could taste peanut butter and it was a pretty basic peanut butter flavor that was accented with a slight hint of sweetness from what I assume was the honey.  Due to the fact there were so many oats and chia seeds in this, it had quite a grainy chew and slightly dry chew to it and while it wasn't horrible, it did make it a bit more labor to chew through it than it seemed like it should have been.  While the bar was dry and grainy, it did have a nice occasional pop and peanut flavoring added by the peanut chunks themselves, so that was a good way to break up the texture of the bar.  Still, this entire bar was just basically peanut butter and that's it, despite what the name might have said.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Despite the fact that one of the named flavors did not deliver, I'll give this a tepid BUY IT rating because I like peanut butter so much and it filled a craving.  That said, unless you are an addict or have a sever peanut butter craving, you are probably going to be fairly bored by this bar and it's definitely not going to fulfill your desire for the timeless combination of peanut butter and chocolate.  Unfortunately, that hemp in the mix wasn't enough to make me high enough to love this bar.  It was just okay and yes, that was a horrible attempt at humor.

BUY IT!!
