Review: Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Honey Caramel Greek Frozen Yogurt

Ben & Jerry's has found some degree of success with their frozen Greek yogurt line as they continue to introduce new flavors.  I've found most of their flavors in this line to be fairly traditional, but more often than not, they are tasty and having another dessert option out in the world is another place.  Today's review is one of those new-ish flavors with this Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Honey Caramel Greek Frozen Yogurt that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $2.50.  Being that it is a pint, it has four half-cup servings and each serving is 190 calories of fun.  There have been a massive amount of reviews done by other blogs (some linked below), but I might as well throw my hat into the ring as well.

I don't know what it is about Ben & Jerry's products, but I'm exceptionally lazy when it comes to describing them.  Maybe it's because they are so extravagant in their composition that I don't feel up to typing out the description myself.  In keeping with that history, I'll go ahead and let their website describe this one for me:  "Vanilla Greek Frozen Yogurt with a Honey Caramel Swirl."  Wow, okay, I guess I could have just described that one myself.  I think I've reached new heights (or lows) of laziness.  Anyway, all of those component were present and the frozen yogurt itself did have a delightful smell of vanilla, honey and caramel.  The swirl was not nearly as thick and gooey as I would have expected, but it was more than sufficient to satisfy me.

When I took my first spoonful of this, I went for the frozen yogurt first and it had a mild Greek tang that was then punctuated with a the nice overtone of fresh-like vanilla flavor.  Honestly, the frozen yogurt itself was enough to satisfy me, but as we know, there were other parts of this pint to plow through.  Next to taste was the honey caramel swirl and it too was delightful.  It had a slight punch of sweetness and combine that with the gooey texture and you could potentially have something decadent.  When I mixed all three components together, it was a truly delightful mix.  Tart Greek yogurt, "fresh" vanilla flavor punctuating that and then gooey honey caramel rounding that all out with a slight sweet flavoring.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Nothing about the recipe screams creativity, but all of these components mixed together made for a darn good pint of ice cream that I thoroughly enjoyed, leading to a strong BUY IT rating.  Honestly, this might be my favorite of all the Greek frozen yogurts that I've tried from Ben & Jerry's so far.  If I had one very, very minor gripe, it would be that there was no sort of crunchy component to this.  Perhaps some graham crackers would have worked to solve that, but since they've already used graham crackers in one of their other Greek frozen yogurts, perhaps Ben & Jerry's didn't want to go down that route again.  Whichever route they did decide on for this one was a good one though.

BUY IT!!
