Review: Better Oats Oat revolution! Peanut Butter Chocolate Chewy Granola Bar

Today's review is another review spurred on by the snack time fairy here at the office.  Since there are so many of us, the snack time purchasers often buy huge boxes of particular snack bars and that's the case with this Better Oats Oat revolution! Peanut Butter Chocolate Chewy Granola Bar that was part of a giant box of multiple flavors, some of which you'll see here in the future.  These are apparently a secret product because Better Oats does not mention them on their website and there's very little mention of them on the web, but what I was able to glean from the box is that these are 1.23 ounces and 140 calories each.  They are also not for individual resale, so the snack people here better not get any tricky ideas unless they want to run afoul of the law.

As you can see here, this look a lot like the Quaker Chewy version of this same flavor granola bar with a couple of key exceptions.  First and most obvious is something that you can tell from the picture...there are a TON of chocolate and peanut butter chips in this bar.  I was pretty darn excited when I saw all the chips and smelled the potent aroma of peanut butter.  Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.  One thing you can't tell from the picture, so you'll just have to take my word for it, is that this bar was exceptionally sticky.  Not sure if it was from the peanut butter or what, but that's definitely not a characteristic shared by the Quaker Chewy bar of the same ilk.  Other than that, it's steel cut oats with chia.  Yay!

Biting into this pretty much provided me with what I'd expect.  Chewy granola mixed with the flavor of chocolate and peanut butter.  Much like the amount of chips though, what I didn't expect was the strength of each of those flavors and that was quite awesome.  All those chips also added great initial crunch to each bite, but then they quickly melted to provide a richness to chewy through the granola.  Frankly, everything about this bar reminded me of a candy bar and nothing made me thing I was eating anything even remotely healthy, despite the fact that this bar is moderately healthy in itself.  If you can trick your consumer into thinking that, you've got a good product on your hands.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Everything about this bar was a winner in my book.  It was decent-sized, which means it was a more than adequate snack and it had fantastic flavor, so it gets a BUY IT rating.  Not sure if this was a Costco or Sam's Club purchase or what, but if you see a mega box of these in the store, it would be worth picking up the box for this flavor alone.  Just a warning though...you might become addicted.  Needless to say, I've got some strong hopes for some of the future flavors that I'll be trying out and I'm hoping the snack time managers (LOL) add this to the regular rotation of available snacks in the future.

BUY IT!!
