Review: Breyers Blasts! Heath English Toffee Frozen Dairy Dessert

In my previous Breyers Blasts! review of their Chips Ahoy! flavor, I remarked how they certainly didn't short you on the amount of add-ins that you receive, which is certainly the whole point of the Breyers Blasts! line of products.  When I picked up that last container, I picked up a second container to check out and that leads me to this review of the Breyers Blasts! Heath English Toffee Frozen Dairy Dessert.  Just like last time, this was picked up at Marsh for $3.00 for the 1.5 quart container.  Each container contains about twelve servings and since this is frozen dairy dessert and not actual ice cream, it's a fairly economical 140 calories per serving.

As with last time, Breyers certainly does not short you with the amount of add-ins that are in this container.  As the label states, the container is made up of "Heath Toffee Pieces and a Caramel Swirl in a Toffee Flavored Frozen Dairy Dessert."  So, while the description is clearly not as long and complicated as the Chips Ahoy! flavor, there's still plenty included in this container as well and all are included amply as once again, the Blasts! name would imply.  The caramel swirl was plentiful and gooey and since this is a toffee flavored frozen dairy dessert, it carried a slightly tan hue as something made with butter often would.

In terms of taste, this was a wonderful sweet treat, even though it was only frozen dairy dessert and not actual ice cream.  The Toffee flavored ice cream itself had that nice burnt sweet butter taste to it that toffee ordinarily would and the caramel swirl added a nice extra bite of sweetness as well.  The Heath toffee pieces are about what you would have expected in that they brought a nice crunch to the dessert as you made your way though the container and the chocolate added a thick heartiness to the gooey sweetness of the caramel and toffee flavored frozen dairy dessert.  The frozen dairy dessert, as you might expect, was thin, but the flavor of it more than made up enough for that.  All in all, it was very sweet, but not in a teeth rattling kind of way.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Unlike the Chips Ahoy! flavor which was too much, this one is subtle and pleasing enough that I give it a BUY IT rating.  For a dessert (a frozen dairy one at that), this is a nice way to fill a sweets craving.  It won't give you the entire satisfaction you'd get from ice cream, but it comes pretty darn close.  One word of warning though is that since this frozen dairy dessert, you might want to let it soften just a bit before you dig in.  The lack of cream in the package makes this one get rock hard when it freezes, so it needs some time to soften, because if it doesn't, you may break your spoon as you are trying to dig in for your enjoyment.
