Review: Walden Farms Italian Sun Dried Tomato Salad Dressing

I am in love with Walden Farms products and I often times find myself searching their website in admiration when I am bored.  Okay, maybe that's not true but I do like a lot of their products and as you can tell by my numerous reviews, I've had a lot of them.  I recently was making a Walden Farms order off of Netrition.com and saw this Italian Sun Dried Tomato Salad Dressing available and since I'd never had it, I ordered a bottle to try out for a review.  As I said, I got this at Netrition.com and it was $3.79 for the twelve ounce bottle.  As always, it's calorie free, sugar free, etc. like Walden Farms products tend to be.

When I got ready to sample this, I expected it to be just the typical runny Walden Farms salad dressing, especially since it is based on an Italian dressing and Italian dressings aren't exactly known for their thickness and heartiness.  So, when I poured this out, I was surprised by the presence of small little tomato bits.  Since the name of this salad dressing says that they are sun dried tomatoes, I used my powerful brain to surmise that those were sun dried tomato bits and their appearance was quite welcome.  Visual appearance aside, this one smelled strongly of Italian dressing and being that is the namesake, that was no big surprise at all.

Taste wise, this was basically an Italian dressing that had a slightly different flavor.  It was tart like vinegar/Italian dressing, but had a very faint sweetness in it due to the sun dried tomato flavoring.  The little tomato bits also broke up the texture a bit and made it feel like a real Italian dressing instead of something that was created in a science lab, although we all know that it really was created in a science lab.  Place of birth notwithstanding, this was a good approximation of an Italian dressing and I found it to be very tasty.

Buy It or Fly By It?  This one gets a strong BUY IT rating, a very, very strong one in fact.  Like I said, it's a good approximation of an Italian dressing and the sun dried component of it brings some additional flavor.  Funny thing is, as I write this review and think about it, I think this might be one of my favorite Walden Farms salad dressings that I've ever had and that's saying something because I've had a lot of them.  Assuming you are fond of Italian dressing, I'd say that you will think the same thing if you are willing to pay the Walden Farms premium prices and give this one a shot.
