Review: Quaker Chewy Yogurt Strawberry Granola Bar

Quaker Chewy has a million products, blah, blah, blah...okay, I've done that one before.  When I first started this blog, I thought it would be easy to write these posts every time I wanted to do a review, but when you write enough of these reviews, you kind of run out of ways to tie each product to a story about your life back to the product, which is what all blog "experts" say you should do when you build a successful blog.  Since I've written so many Chewy bar reviews and will continue to do so, I've run out of semi-interesting ways to relate them to my life (trust me, my life is not that interesting), so this is what you get...a half-hearted attempt to generate content.  Anyway, much like my last review of the Chewy Yogurt bars, I picked a box of five of these Chewy Strawberry Yogurt Granola Bars at Meijer for $2.00.  Each bar is 1.23 ounces and has 150 calories.

Much like the last bar and I'm assuming all bars in the Chewy Yogurt bar line, this bar starts off with a layer of vanilla yogurt.  The the yogurt layer is then topped with a layer of Quaker's standard granola that is mixed in with the fruit of choice for the bar, which in this case is obviously strawberries.  That's about it, but before I start discussing the taste of this bar, there are two things worth pointing out about the strawberries in this.  First, the strawberry pieces were of a fairly decent size and frankly, I didn't expect that.  Second, this bar reeked (in a good way) of strawberry smell when I ripped open the wrapper.  It was very powerful in a pleasing way and that was a nice appetizer as I prepared to bite into this bar.

When I bit into the bar, the strong strawberry scent didn't necessarily translate to the taste.  I tasted strawberry, but it was fairly faint.  What I really tasted was yogurt in the beginning followed by a faint taste of strawberry and then more taste of yogurt at the end.  Breaking up those two tastes was the granola and there's really not a lot to say about the granola because it was Quaker's standard Chewy mix.  Good tasting and crunchy...like death and taxes, you always know that's what you are going to get.  It's pretty much a what you see is what you get type of bar and while that's not necessarily a bad thing,  it is definitely a boring thing.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Despite the fact that I just said this was a boring bar, it's still appetizing and for that reason,  it gets a BUY IT rating.  Sometimes boring is good because it is comfortable.  For example, I would rather have a boring drive into the office every morning because that means that nothing tragic or dangerous happens and/or there were no other traffic snafus and that is definitely something I would be comfortable with happening.  See what I mean?  Anyway, give this one a shot and you won't be disappointed.

BUY IT!!
