Review: Frusion Wild Berry Blend Smoothie

As you can imagine by the extreme number of bar reviews that I've completed on this blog, I sometimes get tired of eating and reviewing those various bars.  So, when I'm meandering through the store and see something different like a yogurt smoothie or beverage related product, I get sort of curious and/or excited and that leads me to my first Frusion review with this review of the Frusion Wild Berry Blend Smoothie.  I picked up this seven ounce smoothie at Marsh for $1.00 and it is 180 calories and five grams of protein.  On the packaging it states it's made with real fruit, creamy low-fat yogurt and is 4% fruit juice.  Hmm...

One thing I will note is that you definitely need to shake this before opening.  I forgot to do that and what I saw was borderline terrifying.  Once I shook it up though, what I saw it what you see in the picture above.  It's a looser, more watery version of a typical low-fat yogurt.  It's kind a slightly pink hue, most likely from the strawberry component of the wild berry conglomeration and also smells strongly of strawberries.  In addition to those strawberries, the wild berries include blueberries, raspberries and blackberries and little bits of each of those berries can be seen floating amongst the smoothie concoction.  I can't say that any of this surprised me, so I was ready to dive in and check out the taste, which I expected to be strong of strawberries since that was what the smell and appearance led me to believe.

As we all know, appearances can sometimes be deceiving and that was the case with this smoothie.  Instead of a strong strawberry taste, what I got was a strong taste of blueberries.  In fact, the only other fruits I really tasted were not identifiable individually but instead at the end of each sip as they all mixed together to make a sweet and tart tang at the back of each swallow.  Outside of that, there wasn't a whole lot else to say about this other than it was a nice and cooling treat.  For its thickness, I would say it was thicker than milk, but less than a yogurt cup.

Buy It or Fly By It?  This gets a BUY IT rating.  It's a nice safe, cooling yogurt treat and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.  While nothing about this would make me write a letter to every single person I know promoting it (although I would write a blog review), it was good enough that I enjoyed drinking it and sometimes that is all that you can ask.

BUY IT!!
