Review: Quaker Popped BBQ Rice Snacks

Editor's Note:  While the product has stayed the same, Quaker now markets these under a different named and they are now called "Quaker Popped Rice Snacks." The review below applies the same.

If you can't tell by my plethora of reviews, I like to snack a lot on Quakes.  A couple Quakes here, a couple Quakes there, it's a seemingly never ending cycle.  Because I get bored pretty easily, I like to spread out the variety of flavors (as you can tell by this blog) and that led me to the Quaker Popped BBQ Rice Snacks flavor.  I picked these up at Walmart for $1.29 and they contain 120 calories per serving (about three servings per bag).

As you can probably tell by the picture, these BBQ Quakes fall into the powdery variety of the Quakes product line.  They are airy and covered in a BBQ powder dust, much like you would find in your typical potato chip at the store.  The dust can get all over you fingers and everywhere else, so have a napkin nearby.

It's no coincidence that the dust in these is similar to that used in BBQ potato chips, because it tastes just the same too.  Frankly, the only difference between these and barbecue potato chips is the actual Quake itself.  Because of its airiness, the Quake is lighter and not as crunchy as a regular chip, but the taste is just the same and as a BBQ potato chip lover like I am, I certainly appreciated and enjoyed that as I "snacked" on these.  These were so good that I had to close the bag after thirty seconds because I was just about to cross the line where this was no longer a "snack" and instead a legitimate pig-out.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Definitely BUY IT.  Like I said, these were awesome and a more than acceptable substitute for a BBQ potato chip.  The only thing you'll miss is the crunch from the chips, but that is easy to get over.  If you see these in the store for a reasonable price, grab a bag (or two or ten) and you won't regret it.

BUY IT!!
