Review: Promax Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Energy Bar

Throughout my life, I've come to this conclusion:  if you don't like cookie dough, you are a terrorist.  Of course, that's assuming you don't have any allergies to eggs, dairy, etc.  That said, I'm not a terrorist, so I was excited to add to another Promax review and also another cookie dough bar review with my review of this Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Energy Bar.  As with all Promax bars, this is all natural and I picked it up on sale at Meijer for $1.50.  It weighs in at a robust 2.64 ounces with 290 calories and a muscle building twenty grams of protein.

When I took this out of the packaging and broke it in half as I usually do for my "action" photos, I was struck by how easily this broken in half and how soft and "doughy" that it appeared to feel in my hands.  Being that the general appeal of cookie dough is obviously a "doughy" texture, I was pretty fired up and anxious to keep going with this one.  As for the components of the bar, it's obviously a cookie dough mix interior with rice crisps and chocolate chips for crunch.  The cookie dough is then ensconced by a very thin layer of peanut butter to add a bit of peanut butter to the bar.  The entire bar is then wrapped in a thin and smooth layer of chocolate.  Eating this with my eyes, it was delicious.

Since you don't actually eat with your eyes, I had to embark on eating this with my actual mouth and I'm glad that I did.  The bar being soft as I split in in half continued to the feel of the bar itself as this was extremely soft in texture in my mouth.  There was none of that usual protein bar "gummy" taste that happens in these bars and the texture was soft throughout with the occasional, but not distracting, crunch added by the rice crisps and/or chips.  The cookie dough itself was sweet, although not overly so, and also had a faint vanilla taste.  Honestly, this tasted almost identical to any tube of cookie dough that you'd buy at your local grocery store.  The chocolate added a nice capper to the whole package as it served as a nice, sweet and balanced accent to the mild sweetness and vanilla of the cookie dough.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I'm going to come out and say it...this is the BEST cookie dough flavored protein/nutrition/energy/whatever you want to call it bar that I've had in all the reviews that I've done for this blog, so BUY IT.  Without question, this bar was unbelievably outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a candy bar that is "healthy" and not "junk" like a Snickers or whatever.  It truly was amazing and I have to give a big kudos to Promax for their outstanding effort because they certainly didn't lie on the packaging...this is a great tasting energy bar.
