Review: Yoplait Blueberry Greek Yogurt

Because of its health benefits, I'm desperately trying to like Greek yogurt.  Because of this, I've reviewed several Chobani products and several Yoplait products.  I don't doubt there will be more coming too.  In this quest, I am led to the Yoplait Blueberry Greek yogurt.  As with most Greek yogurts, it has zero fat and a heavy amount of protein (in this case, the container proclaims it is two times as much as regular yogurt).  Just to be "official", here are the hard stats on this one:  six ounce container, 160 calories and twelve grams of protein.  I picked this one up on sale at Meijer for $0.89.

As you may be able to see in the main product photo above, this flavor is packaged with the fruit on the bottom.  Being that I wanted to show everything for the picture above, I mixed some of that fruit "jam" from the bottom and then brought it up to the top for a visual comparison.  As I'm sure you may have guessed, the blueberry color matches what you'd expect in a blueberry and there are also small bits of blueberry mixed in, which is nice compared to getting just a jam that has no real texture to it.  There's nothing real out of the ordinary with this entire container either as the yogurt is thick and creamy as you'd expect (I don't know why, but I always find it amusing when opening one of these Greek yogurt containers, the yogurt barely moves...it's almost like a well made concrete mixer).

The taste is not real out of the ordinary either.  The Greek yogurt is tart, thick and creamy as you'd expect and the blueberry jam and bits add a nice, yet not overpowering, sweetness to the cup.  When you mix the blueberries with the yogurt, your primary flavor is the yogurt (different from some of the other Yoplait reviews that I've done), but you can still tell that the blueberry flavor is there and they work well complimenting each other with tartness and sweetness.  In fact, I would almost describe it as a hearty flavor.

Buy It or Fly By It?  BUY IT.  This is a non-offensive flavor that is pretty appetizing.  It's not the greatest, it's not the worst, it is just firmly above average in taste.  Considering some of the other flavors that I've had out there, I will definitely take that and enjoy it.

BUY IT!!
