Review: Walden Farms Chocolate Dip

I've heard positive reviews on this Walden Farms Chocolate Dip before (check out Heidi's comment in my WIBIA post), so I was initially anxious to try it out after that post.  That was some time ago and I've had this probably three different times since then as I was hoping for different results since the taste of some of these Walden Farms products vary from container to container (check out the first Anonymous comment in my Marshmallow Dip review).  I picked this one up at Kroger for $3.49.  As with all Walden Farms products, it's calorie and sugar free and I'm always a big fan of that.

Texturally, it looks like dip.  It's somewhat creamy and is dark brown in color (DUH!  It's chocolate!).  Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to say about it.  It's not especially thick and it's not especially thin.  It's basically just like the other Walden Farms dips.

In terms of taste, I'm not really sure what to say about this one.  In the three times I've had this, it has tasted the same twice and this time was one of those times.  Honestly, it was pretty nasty.  The "chocolate" tasted burnt and very "chemical-ly" (I made that up).  Honestly, it was kind of repulsive.  The one time I had it that it didn't taste like "chemical-ly", it didn't taste appealing either, but it wasn't bad.  Still, odds of one out of three that it's going to be just okay is not a good thing.  The funny thing is that for something that is supposed to taste like chocolate doesn't really taste like chocolate at all.  It's something foreign to this planet, almost as if aliens brought it from Mars.  Weird, gross, etc.  Not sure what else to say about this one.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Clearly, you need to FLY BY IT.  When a review of a product includes the words "weird" and "gross", that should be a pretty good indicator to not consider purchasing something.  If you ever heed my advice on a food purchase ever, heed it on this one.  It's awful.
